  • Arko Shaving Soap

Arko is regarded as one of the best budget shaving soaps out there. It's very inexpensive and is a great performer, easy to get a consistent lather with and a pleasure to use. Scent-wise, I would say Arko has a "zesty" or "detergent-like" scent. Some describe it as lemon-scented, like industrial cleaner, or even unaffectionally as a urinal puck, but I find it a pleasant, fresh and clean scent. The soap is somewhat drying to my face so I have to follow it up with a moisturizing aftershave or balm, but most soaps dry out my face so I wouldn't solely blame Arko soap for that. Sure, I wouldn't say Arko is the top of the line for shaving soaps but for the fraction of the price of some other big-name soaps and creams you get a great performer that I believe everyone should consider trying.

  • Easy to lather

First of all, keep in mind that I'm a beginner with very little experience creating lather with shaving soaps. I tried Williams before and (even though I like the smell) found that it's a lot easier to create good lather with Arko instead. Really, a lot easier with Arko. As for scent, it reminds me of a fake industrial/cleaning-product lemon smell. With that in mind, I actually love the smell. The lather is quite decent and lasts enough time in the face without drying up. Although I do like to re-apply it throughout the shave for best results. Considering the price and how long the soap seems to last, I don't have any problems overusing it. I will most likely keep one in my collection at all times, as it's a fun soap to use and looks retro and cool.

  • Not your conventional soap

It makes a great lather without a lot of time or effort. Provides a good smooth foamy lather to shave with any razor. Leaves my face clean and fresh. The scent reminds me of a lemony flowery slight chemical scent not too far from surface cleaner or disinfectant. Not off putting at all, just not fragrant like the other stuff available out there. I like it! I use this about as often as my Proraso stuff. The cost value can’t be beat! The puck is now in one of my mugs and its own Omega brush.

  • Classic soap, great value.

A classic shaving soap made in Turkey. Lathers well even in hard water. Pleasant but controversial citrus scent. The small puck seems like it will last a long time. A genuine bargain, before you go down the yellow brick road of costly artisanal soaps.

  • Good price, great product.

I am a repeat customer. This soap has a thick, slick lather with a pleasant citrus soap scent. At this price it can't be beat!

  • Basic shaving soap

It lathers well and provides a good protection. The scent is just okay. Some may find it offputting. I don't find it bad. The price is right. Overall, Arko is a good value.

  • High performance shaving soap and a significant value.

Great easy to foam shaving soap, but container is not the best. Its very difficult to keep foam in the container when loading brush. If removed from original container and put into a proper shaving bowl, its spectacular soap and a great value. Highly recommended.

  • Great shaving soap

I've been wet shaving for about three years now I've used all kinds of different shave soaps and rate this one as one of the very best , in my top three, even though it costs less than half as much as most others. Great value great shaving soap.

  • Arko Shaving Soap is a Classic.

Arko easily makes a slick cushion of shaving lather. You don't need to be a magician with a fancy shaving brush and perfect water balance. The strong citronella smell is polarizing, but I like it fine. If it is a bit too much for you, leave the container open for a few days and it tones down. This is an old school soap that has been getting the job done on tough Turkish beards for decades. So, it is a classic for a reason and should be part of your rotation in search of wet shaving perfection.

  • tallow moisturizes

There are lots of good shaving soaps. Proraso; Celia; Figeroa; etcetra Beware of new makers is my advice. Frankly Arko & Palmolive shaving sticks are easier; quicker; and more convenient. Even more so is to forgo brush and use hands with a good shave bar to lather up. That's why I bought this round puck but I haven't tried it that way yet.
