This used, Canon SL1 is wonderful, so far. I have nice lenses and the image quality and oft used features and functions are perfect for me.

This appears to be a great nearly full featured DSLR which has wonderful image quality with my lenses. I have taken about 100 shots so far and the features and functions are familiar from prior use of my T1i. I love the size (small) and have become comfortable with the buttons and switches. I can only give this thing high ratings and highly recommend it for amateurs or above for a frequent carry camera, especially if you have a small "super zoom" lens.

    Canon SL1

I mostly use Nikon cameras. This is the third Canon Rebel i've owned. I've been impressed with the two previous Rebels. I use them in a studio setting for head shots. Image quality has been great and they both are easy to tether with Lightroom. I got this Rebel SL1 to replace my Canon Powershot G11, which I lost. I liked the small size and the high pixel count. So here is the downside to this camera. It will not tether with Lightroom. That means I can't use it in the studio. I was a little upset about that, but then I thought I would just use it as my walk around, personal camera. I've been to two weddings this summer. And so there was more bad news. This camera is awful in low light as far as the autofocus is concerned. In low light it takes the picture, and it is grossly out of focus. My Nikons will not fire if they can't find a focus point. This camera just fires away, and you don't get the bad news till you download the images on the computer. I still like the camera. I just won't use it in low light again. To be clear. This is not a Pro Camera. It is aimed at the point and shoot photographer.

  • Solid Camera

I say it's not the easiest to use because I don't just use the auto setting. It's a good camera but it takes your homework to make yourself proficient at taking advantage of all it's features. The menus interface isn't "idiot" proof, but images are great for my advanced armature needs. I love the size and weight.

  • Good Starter Camera

Camera was delivered quickly and all parts were included. The camera takes nice shots and is great for someone who loves photography but is not an expert (yet). Easy to use, and if you want to read up more you can try the different settings. I have not used a lot of the other pieces in the kit yet, but I have tried both of the lens. Good camera, good value.

  • Small foot print, easily handled.

Very light and easy to handle. Perfect for street photography, and versatile with larger lenses, like telephoto. Great Canon quality. I love it.

  • Great camera

Bought this for work and I am very impressed with the ease of use, picture quality and compact size. I was using a Nikon cool pix before and wanted an upgrade and boy did I get one. Now I just need to go take some YouTube classes on how to fully utilize this camera and I'll be set. I would fully recommend this as a superb intro to quality DSLR cameras.

  • Very pleased

Bought it as a back up & complement to my T3i for which I have multiple lenses. Makes a great travel camera, nearly pocketable with a pancake lens. I like being able to move easily between touch screen & traditional cross key navigation. My biggest grip with the SL2 was the ON/OFF switch, which seems sized to a child's hands. The SL1 has nearly the same form & layout as other Rebels & fits my hands much better. I looked at the SL2 at B&H in NYC, but went purely on photos of the SL1, which I noticed was different. Think Canon missed the boat on the updated SL2 as far as handling. Did not want the adjustable LCD screen of the newer model either. Overall very happy with my low-miles SL1.

  • Great camera, easy to use

This is a nice lightweight camera that is easy for my weak hands to keep steady. I'm a long time Canon user, from the 60D to the XSi to the XTi, the T2i and T3i (and who knows which others I've forgotten!) I think this is my favorite model yet. I don't get super deep into the features, so I don't miss whatever ones they've removed on this model. For me, I like the light weight feeling better than I liked the other features. The only negative is that with a heavier lens, the camera feels a bit out of balance. I did get used to this quite quickly, though.

  • What a great "Minnie Me" to it's Big Brothers

I purchased the Canon SL1 because of it's small, lightweight size and advertised ability to deliver high quality pictures like it's larger size Canon dslr brothers. It is definitely around the size of a compact with a long, zoomable lens, but smaller and lighter than my Canon 70D. Being an EOS, I can slap just about any Canon lens on it to get great results. Performance wise it's somewhere near my Rebel 3Ti, and features wise it's on par with my 70D (with it's touch screen). What more could you ask for at this size? It's absolutely awesome and fits my needs to have a Minnie Me to my other 4, (bigger and heavier) Cannons. It's perfect for when I am at small events and don't want to lug around the big boys.

  • GREAT STREET CAMERA . . .

I do a lot of street photograph and this little rascal is terrific. DSLR features in a small package. Doesn't have all of the bells and whitsles of my other bodies, but has enough to take great shots. Have taken a number of exhibition prints with this little charmer, plus all my Canon lenses fit. I combine it with a 40mm. 2.8 Pancake lens and can shoot anywhere without being obvious. Don't have to lug around my full size DSLRS.
