Actors: Neil Pearson, Susannah Doyle, Robert Duncan, Haydn Gwynne, Jeff Rawle. Title: Drop The Dead Donkey: The Complete Series. Henry and Sally hate each other. Also featuring the fantastic finale and Emmy Award winning episode 'Xmas Party'.
It's British humour, which means less canned laughter and more expectation that the viewer decides what's funny. The characters fit what you might imagine a badly run TV news studio looks like on the inside. Huge egos, meaningless management-speak, ineffective management, characters with poor ethics and non-politically correct attitudes. But it's presented in way that you can't help laughing at.
I'm so glad that I found the whole series and reminded myself what the 80s and 90s was like.
A knowledge of political and social events, British politicians, personalities and celebrities around during the time when this was current (the 90's) would help to fully appreciate this show but not essential for it to be enjoyable by any means. Not a great classic of British comedy but close. Highly recommended.
