- Motor speed knob looks like it has been forced into the hole during manufacture. There is a little notch on most potentiometers that lines up with a hole in the chassis to align the knob and stop it rotating. The notch caught inside the box not lined up with the hole and it has been forced in so hard that it pushed the back off the potentiometer and it stopped working. I did manage to fix this. - The bed of the machine is made of 3 panels, the middle one is proud of the others and it looks like during testing(?) that the spindle or something has rammed into it and damaged it. I don't know if it is fixable. Maybe I could hammer it back to flat, but I shouldn't need to do this for an tool that is supposedly accurate to thousandths of an inch. - The retaining edge of the bed was also bent so much that the y axis gantry ran into it. It is pretty easy to bend back into place and is not critical for accuracy. - The provided software is ... well lets just say it is of dubious origin. It did install, but completely in Chinese. Fortunately I am going Linux/free software. - I have yet to cut anything with it. I am waiting on bits to cut acrylic. I have drawn pictures by putting the ink tube from the middle of the pen in the drill chuck. It seems to be the ideal size. - I have run it off a laptop, but with only a pen to work with it is hard to check the accuracy. The tool that "calibrates" your parallel port is mystifying, and looks like it was telling me the laptop parallel port was dodgy. It ran pretty rough. - I have run it off a PC with a dedicated PCI Parallel Port card and it is super smooth by comparison to the laptop with onboard parallel port. I was doubtful about the requirement, but it's right, you can't run from a laptop. - Overall it is a lot of tool for an attractive price. If you are handy and willing to tinker with it, then this will probably be OK for you. If you think this is just going to plug in like a printer and start working, then you should steer well away.
