meets a need
This unit (8-wheel drive, made in China) is definitely an improvement over an earlier one that I bought (4-wheel drive, made in Japan), even though it looks similar and both are designed to serve the same purpose -- to serve as motive power for whatever you want to mount on them or build on them. Both of them require the addition of weight to run well, but my brief experience tells me that this one runs quite a bit better than the earlier one. Still, you can't make it creep along like a lot of n scale locos available these days, but wow, it's a lot smaller and cheaper and will fit niches that some of the others just can't. It's kind of fun to see what you can make out of one of these. One thing I did was to make something like a gasoline-powered passenger car -- similar to a streetcar -- out of an Overton passenger car. Mine sometimes has a little trouble getting through turnouts, but if you join two of them together, I'm pretty sure that they'll go almost anywhere.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Handy little 8 wheel drive chassis
Very compact 8 wheel drive 8 wheel pick up n gauge chassis. It was chosen because it could be fitted fairly easily into a Lesney moy E1 tram, which is approximately n scale. It is a bit higher geared than I would like, so low speed running could be better, but overall it is satisfactory.
