  • Epiphone has a real winner on it's hands with the new Lucille.

I'm blown away by my new Epiphone Lucille. straight out of the case, it had a good enough setup that I didn't need to adjust anything! I simply plugged it into my Marshall practice amp and started to really enjoy playing it. This is my fourth Lucille. I've had two black Epiphone Lucilles, one of which I still own, and one cherry red Gibson Lucille that I unfortunately had to sell for financial reasons back in 2008, Epiphone have really done a fine job on this new take on the classic Lucille experience. Everything about this guitar oozes quality. I immediately felt at home with my extra-large hands on the neck and on the controls. I don't know what else to say. The pickups sound terrific. As soon as I turned the amp on and selected the neck pickup, I had Robbie Krieger's slide tone right out of the box! Smooth and silky with great sustain. The bridge pickup is nice and powerful with an ideal tone for biting leads for Blues, as well as a Rock tone that sounds just right for greasy Blues Rock, as well as Hard Rock in the old school field of Cream, Deep Purple, and Ten Years After! This guitar is a definite keeper and won't be spending too long in its case!
