I have recently been watching all the DC animated films in anticipation of "Justice League: Dark" and holy hell, this film is a lot better than I remember. This film is just under my top two animated Justice League movies which are "Justice League: Gods and Monsters" and "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths". The film's story is, Vandal Savage has hired famous enemies of the Justice League to take them down just long enough for him to send earth back to the stone ages. I know it doesn't sound like the most intriguing 77 minutes ever but the way it plays out and how co-ordinated the attacks on each member of Justice League is, is just amazing. This film has to be the best edited out of all the DC animated films. Both Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly are both back in there most famous roles as Batman and Superman. They both do a fantastic job as per usual and it's because of their great voice acting you really feel invested/involved with these characters. The other voice actors are good but don't stand out as much as Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly. The BluRay's quality is absolutely outstanding. The video is just like 98% of all other BluRay's presented in a 1080p transfer and presented in it's original aspect ratio, 1.78:1. The picture quality is sharp, it has deep blacks and perfect colour balance. Under water scenes and night time scenes are a bit underwhelming at times due to poor contrast and the occasional swatches of blue and grey but besides that the video quality is great. The audio quality is really good but lacks enough bass to be worth showing off. It's your typical 5.1 DTS-HD audiotrack and sounds like it and nothing more. Unlike "Justice League: God and Monsters" 5.1 DTS-HD audiotrack which almost sounded as good as a 7.1 DTS-HD audiotrack, this audiotrack just sounds like a above average 5.1 DTS-HD audiotrack that lacks enough bass. The music is annoying as you'll have this incredible animated filmed turned up to enjoy this blockbuster adventure and all it's explosions but when the music comes on it hurts your ears, making you turn it down. The music isn't too loud but the frequency and pitch mixed are set on such a level just hearing it on a home theatre system might cause a migraine. The special features are great and include trailers, featurettes, two bonus cartoons, a digital comic and a sneak peak into DC's next animated blockbuster, "Superman vs the Elite". The special features are very enjoyable to watch and offer more insight into this film and other stuff relating to the DC animated universe. All up I'd have to give this movie a 7.5/10 and I do definitely recommend this BluRay to anyone whether they like DC animated films or just superheroes in general.Read full review
