Bough this simply as a test and to store benchmarks etc on my test bench :) Was surprised how quiet the drive was, I didn't think it was working at first as I couldn't hear it over my Thermaltake Riing fans that are pretty quiet in an open air Thermaltake P5 case I use as my Test Bench Transfer speeds were good and seek times are low for a HDD. It is however not an alternative to an SSD it gets a hiding, however for the $35 I Paid you get reasonable performance for the price if used as a secondary drive for data storage that needs a bit of performance that cost me half of what another 120GB SSD would have cost. It was tested using the Test Benches Primary drive a Sandisk 120GB SSD for large transfers and small files, It may not be very useful for the average person who needs an SSD or for a person needing large secondary storage that's not really worried about performance as much. But for the Test Bench scenario it matches up very well and is very cheap for 160GB with the performance only a 10K RPM Drive has to offer. Pros: - Fast Transfers for a HDD of this size - Low Seek times for a HDD - 10K RPM - 2.5" Form factor - Great Price / Size & Performance ratio secondhand - Nostalgia easing as these were dream drives when released, I can remember wanting one lol Cons: - Still slow compared to low end SSDs - SATA 2 - Requires Heatsink making it only fit 3.5" Bays (Although its never really got hot) - Extreme high price upon original release XX - BexyRead full review
