One of the best cheap welders
I have used a couple of different brand before I brought this unit as it was a 280 amp I don't think it is as good as the likes as migmag but 1/5 of the price. I have welded lots of things with gas less wire and has done it with ease very happy so far it seems to run smooth all adjustment are good and work well. The earth lead is very short but it cheap to get a longer one. But the hand gun is a good length. The wire holder is the only thing that appears to be cheap but works fine I would recommend this to hand men and even tradies that is welding out of a trailer and don't weld all the tim as it dose have plenty of powerVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Very average welder
I've used mig welders before but this Rossi 300 is very poor in capability. It's a true saying, you get what you pay for. Even at maximum wire rate and modest amps it still fizzes the welds without laying much metal so I don't know how people managed to rate it so highly. Another issue, like many of these cheap welders, is the reversed polarity they come out of the box with. Why? It's always positive earth to weld, not negative! The manual to download is very skimpy on detail but I eventually found the polarity selection inside the wire winder cavity and you literally unscrew and swap to the other pole. The mig hand piece is very good and they supply extra tips and a wire winder wheel, a real plus. The arc welder plugs (including Earth) are smaller in diameter than normal so you won't be able to use your good electrodes from a quality welder on this. If you want to avoid UV weld flash, don't use the ridiculous hand held shield in the box. Spend on a quality auto helmet.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great little welder.

Not sure if it’s that great of value
I turned it on and then the select button didn’t select I pushed it 10 times it didn’t work so I switched it off and turned it back on again and then it worked the screen flickers now and then if it doesn’t flicker it will not select to change settings at all I only used the mig with gas less wire 0.8 it has just volts and wire speed on the mig mode on 14 volts and 130 wire speed it would put a skinny hi ridge weld on the 5 mill steel on 17volts and 170 wire speed it gives a wider weld and bit deeper penetration on 28 volts 130 wire speed it gave much wider weld and deeper penetration but I will run it on gas as gas less is not very good welds and I think gassless wire is just good for big jobs or things that don’t really matter but I have 3 Rossi stick inverter welders and they are excellent and smooth perfect welds

Ok i was very sceptical when making my decision to purchase this rossi mig welder 280 as everyone said that most ebay welders are cheaper Chinese crap. The thing is there all from China , well 90% anyway . Let me just start with I'm very happy will the quality of this mig for the price , value for money second to none, and I've been looking for a welder for some time now. The performance of this little mig is very impressive gas and gasless, i will stick to gas though . The wire feed is good but the earth clamp is cheap, and not sure what they want you to do with mask. Rossi 480Amp , if you have $429 to throw in the garbage bin then buy thid welder
Out of the box the digital reader doesn't read any voltage or amps always showing 00.00 no matter how much you play with the dails the wire feed mechanism is like a baby toy, the mig welding gun is very cheap quality , the included welding mask is as thin as kids birthday party costume masks , earth lead very short , the Amp, voltage and speed dials not accurate at ALLLL rating out of 10 is -5 I will be opening a despute for sure with eBay and PayPal if this seller doesn't refund my money I will take it further to department of consumer affair , am not even sure if this machine is safe to use , falsely advertised it doesn't show anywhere to confirm if it's really a 280 amps machine , some places it says model 280e while is their descriptions they claim that y he machine is 280 amp I had a technician having a look at it and he reckons that there is no way this size machine can produce 280amps is just not possibleVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good sometimes
When I tried this the first time I thought it was the worst welder I’ve ever had but it had a loose earth crimp internally welder mate fixed it and It worked great. But it has a problem with adjusting settings and changing from mig to stick it won’t change anything unless you fiddle with knobs pushing them in and release until display flashes and then you can change amps ect or switch from mig to stick very frustrating took me 20 minutes today to get stick going and when going it’s great as good as any I’ve had but I can see it getting some boot rubber

Just got my welder today. Fist impressions are really good. Quality of machine is pretty high. Well built little machine. Not like. No manual needs to be downloaded. Earth cable very short May be 500/600mm wire feed is quite loud. Welding Face shield rubbish. Good little chip/brush combo, solid stick electrode holder. Rossi mig 280e mig welder
I'm a fencing contractor and do site fabrication. Its a great light weight mig that is easy to use. Does work work on a 7kva geni Bad points. To short earth lead and clamp is light duty. Doesn't come with mig tips for 0.9 mig wire or a feed roller the same size. But can get the feed roller from most shops easy . Over all i am very happy so far.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
