Even when buying a pre-owned Traxxas vehicle of current vintage, with the plethora of replacement and/or hopup parts mean little if any down-time when repairs are needed. The OnBoard Audio (OBA) is more of a gimmick I suppose but it can be fun to drive the dog nuts (or a certain neighbor) as it gets pretty darn loud and the sounds are realistic enough to make someone look to see where the truck that is about to run over them is coming from.. This unit I bought sells new for almost $500, and even though the LiPo battery that came with it was completely dead and useless, the NiMh one allowed to me get it running until I could get a replacement LiPo.

Within 10 minutes out of the box we discovered that one of the batteries was toast even though it looks brand new. The ESC and motor damn near caught fire after being plugged in for 20 seconds. The main chassis pan has a crack in it. As well as overall Shawty craftsmanship. Unit did not have the factory motor and ESC which should have been described.

Description said has aluminum suspension, only thing aluminum is shock caps and adjuster nuts, everything else plastic. Supposed to have front and rear sway bars, no sway bars. LCG chassis, I have a Traxxas Slash Platinum with LCG, This is not a LCG chassis. What upsets me the most is that I bought this for a friend and thought I was getting something close to the one I have.

I’ve had 2 2wd Slash’s on 3s. They don’t pull hills without a running start. I’ve had 3 Vaterra Twin Hammers, on 3s, in 4s, and and Upright shock upgrade on 4s. Never used the 2 speed tranny, they roll a LOT and they break. I now have 4 4x4 Slash’s all on 4s Batteries. 2 HCG, and 2 LCG. This is what HAS to be upgraded to make a Real Off Road Toy outta a Slash 4x4: 120amp ESC 2000kv-3000kv motor 5000Mah 4s Battery (29mm Battery Strap) Aluminum Hubs all Around Good set of adjustable Shocks Steel Axels Roll Bar / Frame Stiffener E-Revo Clutch RPM Rear Bumper w/RPM Wheelie kit The rest of the upgrades you can perform Now, or as you break the stock parts... I have a slash 4x4 of my own. It is super durable and last a long time! I got it last christmas and on the first day I crashed it into a pole. The only thing that breaks on this is the a-arms, but these only break when impacted at full speed.. 60mph! But overall the truck is the best short course truck there is, it has the best motor and the best remote. Since I got it in late christmas I have been running it ever since. I work at the fair and there are a lot of places to ride it, I bolted up a rock hill, jumped 15ft in the air on BMX skateboard and bike ramps, this car still lasted after all that. I also ran through deep mud and water, completely waterproof, durable and overall a good vehicle.

The Traxxas Slash is a very durable RC. It is easy to work on and make repairs. Buyer be ware when it comes to buying them used though. Many people don't take care of them very well and so you can end up with some ones beater.
