A really well designed fan
I like a fan blowing on me but the last one I bought made me feel like I was in a wind tunnel with a 747. Thus this purchase, and I must say I have been really very happy with it. The fan itself is attractive (as fans go), well designed and QUIET. It was easy to put together out of the box and adjusts nice and high. I really like the fact that you can oscillate it vertically as well as horizontally, or even that figure-8 thing. You can also put it on the "natural breeze" setting which I don't like much - it goes faster then slower in a random pattern that I find annoying. It also has 6 speeds, so you can control the amount of waft with some accuracy. The remote control is basic but surprisingly functional and I find I use it all the time rather than the buttons - but those are there right on the front of the tower if you prefer. Overall a great buy, and much better that anything else I have seen for the price.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great quiet fan for sleeping
Great fan, awesome features, very happy. Very quiet when on low setting but still good wind, we use it when sleeping. The 'sleep' feature isn't much good though because it's noisy when on high speed and the sleep feature varies the speed so suddenly it goes very noisy then quiet again. Best pedestal fan ever.
This pedestal fan, Sunbeam fa8900 is an excellent fan. It runs very quietly and has numerous settings. I mainly use the sleep mode which produces a gentle breeze, very nice for sleeping. Unfortunately, this fan is no longer being produced, having been replaced with a tower fan of some sort. If you can source one somewhere, I suggest you purchase one asap. Quite Reasonable

Just Get One
As always, I read a number of reviews before purchasing this fan. Some of them were critical of it: it's noisy, hard to assemble, the lights are too bright, etc. Well, I put it together in under five minutes, turned it on and found it to be exceptionally quiet for its size/power and ... that's right, the lights are not overly bright. Perhaps I'm just handier and less sensitive to noise and light than other people, but I doubt it. Indeed, I wish I'd bought two of them! ... The only problem I can imagine anyone having is with the weight. While light for me, it might be a bit heavy for older folks to move around the house. Love it!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
