Make your six way seats work again

Includes the parts necessary to repair assemblies that were poorly engineered by General Motors. It will take a few days to make alterations to the seat adjustment mechanisms to accept the new gear and disassembly is not straightforward or easy. Be prepared to spend some $$$ at your local machine shop.

    Machine shop recommended

Once you look at the instructions you will see that it is recommended that the teeth under the original plastic gear be removed with a lathe. However this can be done on a bench grinder if you are careful. Also if you have the motor with the plastic cover the gear is a little too big and it will bind therefore this has to be re-machined also. Complete motors with the shaft can be purchased for a few dollars more without the headache. I thought this was going to be an easy fix, I was wrong. After all the work and machining involved I would have better of buying new motors complete with shaft and gears.

  • Poor fit. Complex install.

Its not a plug an play deal thats for sure. Didnt realize that i would have to be a machinist in order to get this to work right. The gear is made too big. If a person just droppes it in without modifying the original housing or the gear size it wont turn. The fix of making a gasket only makes the gear and shaft fit loose an will wear it out an screw it up. I got an idea how bout make the gear the right fricking size to start with!!!!!!

  • Junk

Got it for 12 2500 HD. If you don't have a wealth of automotive experience and a fully equipped machine shop including a lathe you are wasting your money and will be forced to buy a new seat track for 450.00 after attempting this repair. There is no turning back. Even if u succeeded in getting the gear on the shaft it locks up in the housing. $81.00 up a wild hogs a**. My loss learn from my mistake. Fyi I'm a 20 year experienced gm technician that was trying to save a few dollars. Now I'm purchasing a seat track because my seats rocks back and forth like a rocking chair.

  • The cost of the gears was minor compared to the machine shop lathe costs.

The gear was drilled on the wrong side, the shaft had to be machined down and the gears had to be beveled on a lathe so they would fit inside the gear housing. It was not an easy or economical repair. Would have done better to have bought complete gear motors.

  • Did not fix my seat

My seat motors ran when I started, but wouldn't move the seat due to broken plastic gears. I installed the new gears. They were drilled on the wrong side. Fixed that. The gear was too big for the case. I fixed that. The seat raises and lowers smoothly and the shaft turns fine without the motors attached. I install the motors and they just clunk, as though they are bound up or stuck. Looking for motors or a seat base now.

Item worked perfectly to replace my plastic gear. Only thing that might become an issue later is that the metal gear now rubs against a plastic one. Might wear out

  • Fixes Problem!

Simply because it worked!!! Not an easy fix, as you have to grind the shaft to make the gear fit. Would be much better if the shaft was included at that price! Some DIY-ers probably couldn't do this job. But, once done, it worked.

  • Great way to fix the vertcial seat problem.

A lot cheaper than replacing everything per Dodge. Fits as stated and not that hard to put in.
