superior tires for racing or touring
I've looked at charts and graphs comparing the GP4000s to the other leading tires and the numbers don't lie, the GP4000s perform above or at the top of all the competition. In my mind they are the best tires available in terms of light weight, low rolling resistance, and puncture protection. That said, these tires have vulnerable sidewalls that suffer abrasions and cuts fairly frequently. I usually get about 1000 - 1500 miles out of these tires before I have to replace them. However, the puncture protection Veltran belt that these tires do have is remarkable. I've never had a problem with punctures, but that belt doesn't run bead to bead, which is why the side wall is usually the place where damage occurs. Bottom line, I'm willing to risk more frequent flats to get the amazing performance these tires deliver. They are a joy to ride!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Superb tires for racing or touring.
What can I say that hasn't already been said? Continental hit one out of the park with these tires. They have exceptional performance, very low rolling resistance, and the black chili rubber compound provides great handling and cornering. But to save weight they do not have bead to bead puncture protection and are vulnerable to side wall cuts and abrasions. They have become my favorite tires
The Continental Grand Prix 4000s II have handled and felt greater that I was expecting. I've had them for a little over a week and only have about 100 miles on them. I bought them in 700x23c and had to measure the circumference mounted with 110 psi to input it in my bike computer for speedo precission, and it measured about 25.4, please keep this in mind as I was originally running 700x25c Michelin Pro4 Service Course, and you could just look at the them and tell they were bigger than 25, when I did the same test for the those tires, they were giving me 27.8, and that measurement was in regular Vittoria Alloy wheels that came in my nashbar al-1. Hence the reason why my next tire I bought 23, to get a 25. I have my continentals on a pair of Easton EA-90 SLX and I couldn't be happier, having it measure 25 instead of 23 didn't bother me, as i prefer it for the amount of dirt and rocks we have in the shoulders of our roads here in the most southeastern corner of AZ. The tire feels smooth and grips like a champ. Highly recommend. I'm sticking with them and will only chane when they come out with a new version. Reliable Performance
The Continental GP 4000s II is a fantastic tire for training and racing. Can you afford to get a flat tire in a race? I can't. Sure, there are lighter, more "supple" tires out there, but that performance comes with a price: flats. The GP 4000s II rolls great, wears great, has a good price point and is tough.
