    Gran Prix 400S 28MM

    Back in the 90s race bikes were using 18MM. Nowadays it's not unusual to see 25 MM in grand tours up from only 23 MM a few years ago. Racers have noticed wider tires create a bulb that creates less friction than thinner tires making it roll faster when compared to same PSI. The 28 MM also is more forgiving in absorbing shocks making longer gran fondo rides easier on the back. Some predict the 28MM will be standard in grand tours in the next few years.

    Worst tires ever easy to get cuts!

    I bought a set of these tires because of the great reviews, they do roll great. But the extra flat protection is crap! they cut very easy. I got my first flat 10 miles in on a paved bike trail, I have now installed liners so I can get some use out of these. This is my second set of these my first set I had a similar experience but multiple flats, I decided to try a second set because I just loved the way they roll and thought I just had a run of bad luck with flats. But these tires cut very easy!

    Fast Rolling Tire

    Noticeable difference in rolling weight with the 28s I bought. I’m coming from knobby gravel 40c tires. Contact patch in these are rigid and will hopefully prevent future punctures. So far 50miles in. did experience 2 flats on the inner rim side, one after the first ride and another when going in to replace the tube. Punctures were caused by my rim tape. For some reason I was getting inner punctures from the rim tape; I’m thinking it may be due to the higher pressure that I was running in these or rim tape was just old and failing. Replaced rim tape with good quality Velox and that did the trick. Now up and rolling No Issues. Great fast tires would recommend to anyone looking for a fast durable long lasting tire.

    Best Ride

    These tires offer a really comfortable ride with plenty of grip. They aren't the most puncture resistant like Gatorskins, but offer the best ride quality for those that enjoy long rides

    GREAT TIRES

    I love Continental tires and have used them for years. They hold up well, have a good road feel and promise low rolling resistance. As a longtime manufacturer of premium bicycle tires, These Grand Prix GP 4000s II's are another in a long line of quality tires. I also have some less expensive wire bead Continentals and they are pretty darn close to these in road feel, but just weigh more, but cost less.

    Great mileage

    I think these tires are great,I have been using them for about 3 years now I ride about 10k miles per year and these tires last me between 7k and 8k miles. Having other tires previous to these that lasted 2500 miles i am happy not to have to worry about them on longer rides. I had another brand on one of my bikes and had a blowout with less than 1000 miles on them. I ordered new 4000sll tires and replaced them immediately upon receiving them.

    Upgraded to 28 from 25

    Over bad roads which is pretty much every road, you will be faster from the cushioned ride. Before you upgrade your bike try a 28mm road tire.
