BAUMR -AG SGR750 VERY CAPABLE UNIT

The Baumr-Ag SGR 750 stump grinder is a great entry level machine ,it is a very capable unit and seems to grind down stumps with ease. Its has a very fuel efficient yet powerful engine. Initial set up is mandatory for longevity and reliability of the stump grinder. Greasing of the cutter bearings is crucial prior first use also the use of the correct viscosity engine oil i used penrite. so far i have ground 15 stumps without an issue. I also replaced the engine oil for the first time after 4 hrs work to get rid of the steel particles accumulating in the oil whist the engine is breaking in . A carby adjustment will be necessary when the engine finally breaks in mine was running slightly lean so i adjusted the mixture screw and runs perfect now. Only a couple of gripes the throttle cable does not suit the unit its way too long but works and the shield rubbers can make the maneuvering of the unit hard at times but not to bad.

  • Top critical review

Hard work to use needs refinements

Good looking machine not too hard to assemble bits packing crate excellent but the Nitty gritty is I'm used to a Rayco 1625 super junior and bought this for tighter access of which it's great.easy to wheel on concrete however once in garden beds wheels are too small needs larger diameter machine is not self propelled and it's bloody hard work to push around also main drawback is the cutter wheel and teeth are way too small and it takes forever to grind a harder wood stump. Teeth protrusion from machine is 2"? Can't get decent night even small palms 6" across you had to really work hard. I don't want to be completely negative, machine has really good base, big engine solid build its heavy good and bad even 2 men bloody heavy to lift onto ute especially after working all day I'm going to make modifications larger wheel at least 14" with green teeth (can't beat them) and put larger tyres on hopefully it will make improvements!?? I read a lot of the other reviews and I really would like to see how they did it because they don't really compute in my book? I've been in the game for 30 years I've tried everything and this machine is okay but not perfect. Just being honest and it needs 2 person's to manoeuvre on/off ute and in soft areas and you can't afford to pay someone to stand around watching you grind a stump in between. By the way Edison had good communication and it arrived before due date by days thanks for that but they don't have listing for spare parts on eBay you need to buy direct ie new stump teeth etc, $220 + postage and for those teeth I think is double what I think they are worth hence I'm paying more for green teeth but much cheaper in the long run. I'm not saying don't buy I'm just saying be prepared to work a lot harder to use this machine or any others that require 'man handling' and you aren't in a hurry to grind stumps larger than 6" in diameter. Edison's thankyou, pricing very reasonable, Cheers!

  • Efficient Stump Grinder.

I bought this stumpgrinder because I own many other machines and equipment of this brand and they have been very reliable and easy to use and maintain. I have a lot of stumps on a bush block in Tasmania. After the first few stumps I had the grinder worked out. At first I was happy to grind to ground level but as I became used to it I then began to grind below ground level. Just as easy just as good. With one wheel brake applied it is simply a matter of swivelling the machine on that stationary wheel to grind in an arc. Then moving it forward an inch or so and doing it again. It just eats through the stump with ease. Green stumps or many years old made no difference. I chainsaw the stump off as close to the ground as possible usually no more than 3 inches tall before grinding. Obviously it could grind taller stumps but I get more firewood this way. I am very happy with it. I thought as I knew very little about stumpgrinders beforehand that I might be taking a bit of a risk with it. I am happy to say it has exceeded my expectations. .

  • Robust construction and quiet (for this type ogf machine)

Easy to set up. Robust construction. Easy to operate. It is a little smaller than I expected and this is ok as any bigger and would be too hard to move around. The brake control wording is back to front.. On is off and vice versa. But if you need a sign to tell you what state your brake is in then you probably shouldn't be using the machine... or any machine!

  • Solidly constructed and fit for the task!

Arrived safely in heavy wooden crate. After minimal assembly (and oil/fuel/grease) started first go and was put straight to work on a few stumps. Chewed them up quite easily, took only a short time to get the method right. Did the job well. Heavily constructed and easy to use.

  • Great value stump grinder

The stump grinder arrived, and after reading the reviews i tightened all bolt and nuts, put in oil, greased the bearings, then fired it up. It fired up straight away which was pleasing. For the price it is well made, in time i see problems with a few attachments such as the brake assembly, throttle etc, but that goes for all outdoor toys doesnt it! So i lined up a stump!! As one reviewer stated, its tough going pushing and pulling the grinder with the rubber shields, and though i havent done it - cutting a few cm off the back rubber shield would make it easier to maneuver but would let a few missiles pummel your shins, so i left it as is! I started grinding the stump and was pretty impressed. after a few stumps you start to get the hang of the best way to attack it - from the front and slowly moving forward, BUT- its not an easy exercise, the sweat was dripping off me (its hot and humid up here in the tropics at the moment) and in a short time i was huffing and puffing, however it is very pleasing to see a mower wrecker ie stump dissapear. After the first stump i removed the emergency handle, it was way too painful on the hands and wrist trying to keep the handle down while maneuvering the grinder and if it slipped off, even if you instantly depressed it again the motor would stop. I havent found it dangerous by not having it as the blades dont spin when the machine is idling anyway. Overall very happy, getting fit, and pleased, hope this helps. ps, ive found edisons a great company to deal with, and that gives me peace of mind with the amount of money involved.

  • Nice grinded

Have ground about 15 stumps so far. The stump grinder worked very well, better than I expected. A total of about 10 hours actual work. Then one of the bearings on the cutter head burnt out. As I had neglected to grease these bearings when I was setting up the machine, I suspect this was my fault.

  • A lot of fun to use

The machine is very good and deals with green stumps quickly. Long dead stumps take a bit more time and effort. The chip skirts around the machine could be a little shorter which would improve mobility but taht said they contain all the detritus. The manual dose not make it clear about the deadman's safety handle, the machine will not start unless the handle is engaged nor foes it mention that the various grease nipples, in partcular those on the cutting wheel should be attended to before use. Would I buy another if the need arose, yes without question.

  • Great entry level machine

Machine was well packed and easily assembled. The engine fired up first try after adding fuel, oil and greasing the cutting head shaft bearings as per instructions. Problem areas were the throttle cable, kept dislodging and no amount of readjustment and tightening would keep it in place which dropped the revs too low. I eventually got it sorted and ground 30 stumps today with no further issues. The second area of concern is the brake. Hopefully it’s just new components settling in and won’t need to be constantly adjusted eventually. The On/Off switch on the front of the engine was found to be broken when the crate was opened. It’s a very cheaply made switch that’s not really necessary anyway because the deadman’s handle shuts the engine down as soon as you let it go. Overall it’s a very robust well built machine that does what it’s designed to do for a budget price.
