As a physician, I feel very comfortable in recommending this program. It is conservative, well considered, incremental, and will get a person on the right track: building health vs. treating and suppressing symptoms. Dr. Weil has lots of good advice, most importantly the emphasis on the function of the healing system inherent in our bodies and how to strengthen this system. Symptoms are often our body's way of telling us something in our diet or lifestyle is wrong, and rather than disregarding such feedback, we disregard it and try to suppress the symptoms with drugs. This is very dangerous, since those factors which are causing the imbalance go unaltered. Using drugs to suppress symptoms is like cutting off the head of the messenger that has brought the bad news. Genghis Kan is still over in the next valley, and silencing the messenger has done nothing constructive, and certainly hasn't altered one's destiny with Genghis Kan. With his emphasis on grains, vegetables, traditionally processed soy foods like tempeh and miso, his dietary regime is so much better than the new version of Atkins high animal protein, the so called 'paleo' diet, which lack of fiber, high saturated fat content, and acid ash food emphasis generates illness, to the contrary of its proponents. All good info here from Dr. Weil, and a trustworthy source for lasting healthy changes.Read full review
