It is clear to me that it is part of a larger whole. If I was one camera short and on a budget for my security system, this would be it. For a first timer, it would be a shock to see that more components are needed like a DVR or even a computer to be on and operating full time. This camera is easy to install and easy to use. It has a powerful built in web server administration that is quick to set from Ethernet to wireless. Some parts of it uses the outdated proprietary Active-X control for viewing clear video, but it's minor. One thing I like the most is that it has a built in DDNS client so no bothering if a private router doesn't have that feature. The annoying thing I found about the camera is the shape. The ring support to where the screws go in cannot be removed because the ethernet/power bulb is wider and that wire is too short. It's not easy to set into place and akward to work with. In a handyman's point of view, this would be a difficult task. The picture quality is beyond excellent and night vision has high clarity. Also, motion detecting is very sensitive and can easily be adjusted. As said, there's a wealth of features and very powerful when combined with compatible systems. For individuals or beginners, a good but a more complete system would be needed. This would be regarded as an add on. For businesses or established security systems, if there is a need for just one camera and it's too complicated to buy just one, then I would recommended it.Read full review

Positive: Easy to set up, good WiFi reception, good quality. Negative: The cord has a fixed big connector, so you can't run the cord through a hole in the wall unless you drill a very big hole. That is not so smart. And there's one big mistake in the software. When the camera detects motion, it can send up to 3 snapshots to an ftp server or via mail. But while doing so, the camera goes blind for a period. That means you will get 3 photos of a car pulling up to your house, but you won't get any photos of the people getting out of the car. That's a big mistake and costs 2 stars.

I have a number of these in service. This is your basic utility grade security camera, with all the basic features most people require, at a reasonable price. It does the job for me ... decent enough image (both daylight and IR) although not hi-res by any means. Enough configuration options to handle most of the usual situations.

The quality of the pictures and videos are good for the price, and the camera is easy to connect to the network. What I do miss, is a user manual. The setup for the sensitivity of the alarm and other settings is a bit of a guesswork. A good instruction booklet and a better app would definitely have helped.
