I was replacing a T-Mobile Cellspot router that I had to return. All my old routers were single band 2.5ghz. I was spoiled having the free dual band. I bought a D-Link 820L and a 866LAC. Both used. The 820L worked fine and the 866L was a tad better. The 820L worked and covered my first floor very well. I was suprised with no rabbit ear antennas but I understand the circular propagation. Speed with my basic 15Mps Time Warner internet averaged 17Mps. Remember, no matter how good the router, its all based on your cable router and the speed you pay for, not the wifi router. I only have one device thats faster on the 866L, my HTC One M8. My older 8.9", 7 " Fire and Paperwhite Kindles were fine with 820L. They max out at 300Mbps on 820L while on the 866L shows 433Mbps AC throughput. I've downloaded from Play store, streamed movies over Rokus, streamed audiobooks over my Echo with no drop outs. For the price, used from eBay they both matched the Cellspot router, both dual babd.Read full review

While the product is new and does my basic function needs, was unable to link to Wi-Fi. Observed manufacture date was 2014, Web Browser Configuration process was not available. Newer DLink configuration information/procedure, that was available, was incompatible. I believe Wi-Fi can be configured to this router, but I cannot link.

In 2015, my high speed internet connection kept "dropping out" I was using a G router. On a hunch, I got an N which worked great for about 6 months and then it started doing the same thing. Got this faster (though not state of the art) router and stopped having drop out issues. Great value versus brand new fastest model available. I have concluded that in this age of streaming content, you better have a fast enough router or you will have problems.

With the Gigabit Ethernet ports and dual band WiFi, my Internet and Network speeds went through the roof! Our WiFi increased about 10x (no exaggeration) plus no downtime, and though our hard wired internet didn't increase (for obvious reasons), Network transfer speeds increased about 7x what we were originally getting with our 100 Megabits per second. Overall great router, and looks super awesome!

As with most Dlink products, set up was nice and easy. Works as expected on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels. Works much better with direct cable connection to unit as opposed to WiFi, but that is Spectrum internet issue and not a Dlink issue. Overall I'm satisfied with performance for price.

I use this as a second access point. It is very small and easy to hide. Speeds are great, almost 400Mbps on my desktop. Tablet and phone are around 250Mbps. Range is decent, but wouldn't be the best for a whole house or large apartment setup.

I have this router now a month or more, its so far been rock solid, giving much better response time from my server. I host a pretty large NAS that is connected to my media center for streaming. The router is connected to a 150mbps cable connection. directly with the modem i get 170mbps and also behind the router i get the same. Via wifi also results in the same speed to, which is great! Overall great little router.

My PC had an older internal 802.11n wireless card that was too slow to stream video from my Universal Media Server through my Xfinity Cable Modem/Router to my Playstation 3. So I added an external USB 802.11ac 5Ghz adapter with antenna to the PC and this DLink router to the Xfinity box. I accessed the DLink's router controls and turned off it's DHCP (so the Xfinity box still does that) and plugged a short Cat5 jumper from the DLink's network port to one of the Xfinity ports, and another short Cat5 jumper from the Playstation to one of the Dlink ports, which now functions like a dual band access point. Videos with lots of action flow perfectly now, and pages load in a flash.

Works great. Had to do some web research to get the update from Australia. D-Link claimed no support from USA site. After updating twice,D-Link offered the third update automatically. I went from 2014 to 2019 in a few minutes.

I bought this router after the one suggested for my normal family with game playing and internet useage by office depot wouldn"t perform for the game players in the house hold. Pluged this in and in moments later could tell the difference and have had no issues for months now. I would strongly recommend for same type of useage is on my second floor and a floor between google home and xbox with no issues.
