The Tung-Sol 6L6GC STR is a good performing tube. These were not microphonic. They have a nice balancing of various tonal frequencies. To be it may be as good as the RCA -NOS 6L6GC I replaced the old tubes in a 1965 Silvertone 1483. It handled the current today's Line Voltage at the wall socket. 120+ these old amps were using 110. The value is very good I have not had any issues in 2 weeks of use I pushed the tubes which I believe were about 50 watts for the pair and my decibel meter proved that these are the real deal. Thanks for the manufacturer that decided to replicate this highly sought after tube. Time will tell. TB

Purchased 2 that were matched to within 3ma. Had to slightly compress the spring retainers on the socket to get them to grip the base which was not a problem. Using these in a 65 BF Pro Reverb where I had been running a pair of Sovtek tubes. Replacing them with a fresh pair of 6L6GC-STR's brought out more mid-range and sparkle in the amp but not what I would call bright or ice-picky but they can be if the tone were dialed in for it. Bottom end seems the same as the Sovteks so other than more mids and sparkle they sound the same. I am a home player and these will never see any abuse so I can't comment on the life span but they recommended replacements and aren't as dark (flat) as the Sovteks.

This pair happened to be the worst macthed pair I've seen in a long time. I build amps and bias them correctlyand this one pair was out in left field. These are good tubes, but "matched' isn't what it used to be...

I was using JJs in my Fender Twin Reverb. I was looking for something comparable but maybe different too.. After doing extensive research, I chose to give the Tung Sols a go. They sound great, maybe slightly less bass, but very close to the JJs. I'm hoping these may last longer. They seem very well made. And the price was right!

Matching 1964 date codes, testing at NOS specs. Nothing compares sonically to the vintage American made tubes.
