  • Not Impressed at all !

First off, the multichannel layer is hardly multichannel at all. The only thing coming from the rear channels is echo / reverb. All the music is coming from the front. In all likelihood, an actual multichannel master doesn't exist, so they just "doctored up" the stereo one with reverb. If you want to hear the Doors in true multichannel, try the "Best of the Doors" Audio Fidelity SACD release. Second, the stereo SACD layer doesn't sound all that great. It lacks detail & depth. The standard remastered CD that came out in 1999 sounds much better. ............. I was going to get a couple more of these Door's SACD releases but after hearing this one, not going to bother.

  • The Doors "The Doors" SACD

All the reviews I read on this said that the multichannel mix on this is mainly ambience and that is most definitely true. I had to check it out, as I owned the L.A. Woman DVD Audio, which went a bit farther with the multichannel mix. If you're a stereo purist then I'll bet you'll still enjoy the multichannel mix on this. It really stays true to the original stereo, generally using the rear speakers for echo, reverb etc and the center for vox and L to R panning PS…I’ll bet the person who hated the surround mix flat out hates Multichannel anyway…one of those stereophiles…this is way better than stereo, if you love Multichannel plus of course it’s the best digital version of it as well, even if you prefer stereo…a good buy!
