Researched this item before purchasing, looking at reviews and the on-line manual, so I knew that several of the features listed on this site are incorrect. It's just an MP3 player, and that was what I was looking for. I had a little trouble setting it up. I received an error message that the downloaded software was not recognized by Windows 10 (no direct link to the Philip's site). A web address for Philips was written on the "Quick Start" page that came with the player. I charged the SoundDot through the USB port. The green power indicator light did not stay on, but it turned out that it was charged. There were three sample country songs that I had to get rid of by reformatting, because these songs were not listed as MP3s. I tried to replace the removed formatting using the "repair" feature listed on the menu of the Philips music player program that was downloaded with the drivers. Since the repair option didn't function, I then had to return to the Philip's site, to create an account and register the player. I was then allowed to obtain another copy of the player's software. I used reading glasses so I could read and enter the full number that was listed in faint blue, in minute print on the page sent with the player, to register it. After loading the new copy of the software and drivers (I had to agree to get rid of what was left of the old), the player worked sans the Country Music. An E-Bay review had said I'd need different headphones. I verified that the headphones are inadequate, but that didn't surprise me for the price. With better headphones the sound is excellent. If it stays working (I just bought it), it seems a great deal.Read full review

Received the sounddot in battered but whole box. Plugged it in to my desktop computer to charge and it immediately went red (assuming it is flat). Left it to charge all day. Still red. Plugged it n to my phone charger over night; was still red the next morning. Went out and bought a plug-in-the- wall powerpoint charger with 2 USB ports to try that. Still nothing. Very unhappy.

Ok, I'm an MP3 junkie. I have more than 10 MP3 players. I bought this one for a specific purpose. I go on an annual river tubing trip and I have defined myself as the DJ of the trip. I have been taking an MP3 player and a set of battery-powered speakers with me for the last few years, but just for my own enjoyment. This year, I plan to strap 2 speakers onto my cooler tube and share the music with my friends. My thought was to buy a cheap MP3 player so that if I drown it, I won't be too upset about ruining a cheap MP3 player. I got this player and immediately loved it! There are no bells and whistles, it just plays the music I have loaded. There is no display, but the single LED tells you what you need to know (battery charge level while charging, whether it's in shuffle mode, when the battery's about dead). I find that 2 GB is about the sweet spot for a weekend of music and the volume level is pretty good. The battery lasts for about about a full day of music enjoyment. I liked it so much that I just bought another one, even though the price went up. They're not produced anymore so get one now!Read full review

This products design is very simple. Press and hold either side of the MP3 player to change songs. Press the corresponding side to either increase or decrease the volume. Indicators can be found on the back. The sound quality is wonderful. This product will easily fit in anyone's routine.

I purchased the GoGear Sounddot Digital Media Player because a previous GoGear product wore out. This one plays the same music, but it is more tempermental. With the on/off switch being almost an inch in diameter, the music can easily be turned off just by brushing against another object. The device doesn't seem to maintain a charge as well as the previous unit. On the positive side, a clip is included to attach the device to clothing or something similar. The USB connector is readily available for a recharge. The device was moderately priced at $16 plus $3 shipping. The last device lasted about 2 years before it failed to hold the headset connector in a secure position. Hope this unit will last at least that long.
i use it for everything because the battery lasts so long and the sound quality is GREAT !!the best thing about it is you can change the songs without looking ,i change the song when im riding a dirtbike and while running .sometimes i bring 2 with me incase the battery dies or i get tired of the songs on one .ive had them for 4 years now and still use them every day and they are extremely durable. i lost one once and found it a couple months later in the sand in my yard and it had been rained on a bunch and stuffed full of sand , i brought it inside for a couple weeks then charged it and now it works fine !!also works when you plug into the usb on my trucks radio and you can even use radio to change songs

I wanted a base mp3 player that will play all the files in the drive either sequentially or in 'shuffle' mode. and it does it perfectly... sound quality is good.. extremely portable.. no cables.. just connect it into the usb slot and drag-drop files.. charge lasts for at least 7 hours ... overall it is a good buy ...

This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. A very simple player, at a very low price. No screen and sparse controls if you want to scroll through and find things, you are out of luck but, it works and it works very well.
