  • An Amazing Camera, with All The Extras -Action!

I purchased a Black Magic 2.5k to accompany my BMPCC Camera. Best decision I have made to date. You can shoot for hours not minutes with XC SSD drive storage. The Dynamic Range and Raw Image Quality of this Camera rivals it's more expensive counterparts. Did I Mention the Raw workflow is a dream. Raw Format is not only editing (proxy or non proxy) but also color correction with Davinchi Resolve software earns this Camera some serious bonus points. For the price and Results this Camera does all it advertises to do. While sure if you are expecting Alexa or Ursa quality look elsewhere but this Camera has been my go too before ever purchasing one for myself, and it continues to this day to remain a gold standard in my arsenal.

  • BMCC review by Rj

Blackmagic offers some really high quality cinema cameras for a fraction of the price of Red and Arri cameras. They're bringing digital cinema cameras into the consumer market and though they may seem expensive to a beginner, these are really quite affordable. Now the downside of this is that you won't get nearly the amount of features a professional camera like the Alexa or Epic would. You're limited to between 23.98 and 30 fps, you get two main color profiles (cinema and video) and you can record a few kinds of pro res or raw. You will also need to accessorize your camera with a few things, such as an external battery, a cage, an external sound recorder, and of course adaptors and lenses. If you have some of that stuff already or can afford ot alongside the camera, it is definitely worth getting. If you put the time and effort into learning the ins-and-outs of the camera, manual focusing, and some basics of filmmaking you can get really professional looking footage. Dare I say, you can do commercials, TV, and movies with this camera if you have the knowledge to do so.

  • Old but still pretty good

The image quality is excellent however you'll need plenty of extras to get the most out of this thing to get it mobile. Raw is nice, File sizes are crazy still eight years later. I really enjoy this camera, I'm going to practice as much as I can afford to!

  • I love this camera!

I've wanted this camera for about two years. Finally got it and I'm so happy with it. I shoot weddings and corporate videos. My favorite thing about the camera is the color. I usually don't even color correct the clips other than adding saturation and adjust the exposure and the colors are so accurate to real life. Night and day over the dslr cameras I would shoot with. I was bummed to loose the shallow depth of field from a full frame camera but I've grown to like it even better at times. It's so much easier to focus. Plus I've noticed a lot of Hollywood movies don't even have crazy depth of field. The fact that you can't use image stabilization is a bummer too but you just gotta get used to going all manual and using other forms of stabilization. I'm shooting on rokinon primes and I love them. I have a 21mm 1.4 and an 85mm 1.5 DS lens. I like the 21 the best. It's basically like a 50mm on a full frame. I also love the look of the camera. It's so unique and it causes people to ask questions about it and that gives me an opportunity to talk about my style and whatnot. It's another thing to set me apart which is important as a wedding filmmaker. Of course the high dynamic range is so amazing to have. It adds so much realism to the look of the film. I would highly recommend this camera to any one who wants a raw and natural look to their films and doesn't mind going all manual.
