I found it to be quite on heavy on my hair despite using very little and the next day, my hair was very greasy, each and every time I used it. Yes, it did detangle on contact. I could not determine if it lightened my hair because I didn't like how it made my hair greasy so I didn't use it for the longterm. I used it half a dozen times before I shelved it, where it still sits.
