Improve the range of your Wi-Fi network with the TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT starter kit. This extender comes as part of a larger kit, which makes it somewhat simpler to set up. It operates on the 802.11g band, which is supported by a wide variety of routers from both the 2000s and the 2010s. The extender can stream data at a rate of up to 54 megabits per second.
This Powerline works great. It's really easy to setup. I first connected both of them on the same Powerstrip and then once they were connected I transferred it to the room I needed the connection. I highly recommend to anyone.
Nowhere near as fast as claimed, bad plug design but works
It was a bit trickier to set up than I hoped. The design of the plugs isnt good because one takes up a whole double socket - just too wide. And on set up you need to plug them both in near each other on the same circuit. A bit more thought by the designers here would have been good.
Once set up the devices worked straight away taking internet to my workshop. My router is delivering about 450 MBps to the wired network. On the extender (75 metres away) I get 12 Mbps download and 28 up. So nowhere near the sort of speeds advertised (up to 300 mbps).
But it works
We have tried several products to get a good signal in the garage, with limited success. This is the best of the lot. It has a good range and there has only been a few minor drops in signal strength (probably due to other factors). Overall, a good product, easy to set up and use and good value for money.
I was looking for the add on wifi version of the extender as I already had one of these kits, but they have not been available for months. I chose to buy the duplicate kit so I could have the second wifi repeater. It worked fine with my existing kit. They are easy to set up.
