The 1937-S is the most common San Francisco Mint Buffalo nickel. It is about as "rare" as the 1937-D. Strike is usually decent for a S Mint Buffalo and luster is usually of the grey brilliant type.
This coin is superb. Well struck and brilliant. I have picked up a few of the later date, higher grade, brilliant, Buffalo's while they were still available at reasonable prices.

When the package arrived I was expecting a coin that PCGS had graded at the lower end of the MS 67 Grade. Was I in for a shock! When I put the coin under my 30x microscope I was surprised that it did not receive a "+". One of the sharpest, unmarred Buffalo coins I have come across...my Buffalo Nickel collection has no coins under MS 67 or Proof 67. This coin is a fine "+" addition.

The horn stands out perfectly as does the tail. The Indian face is solid as is the date. Would like to find more coins of this quality.

Buffalo Nickels are so often poorly struck, but the 1937-S is an exception. Use this date and mintmark as a standard for other Buffalos, but very few will match it!
