Kill City is a 1977 rock and roll album. It is a collaborative effort between singer songwriter Iggy Pop and guitarist James Williamson. This is the first album Pop released after The Stooges broke up, and one of the most unique/interesting albums I have ever heard. Pop blends traditional punk rock, with very strong elements of jazz, and rock and roll. Although the recordings are raw and rugged, there is a true sincerity in the songs here of a real musician and artist. This record is for the true Iggy Pop fan and features some of his most accomplished work to date. The songs "I Got Nothin" and "Kill City”, both express how depressed and deep into heavy drugs Iggy was at the time. In fact the vocals for this album were recorded during weekends when Pop was allowed to leave the mental hospital he was staying for treatment of heavy drug use. The linear notes provide in depth accounts of Pop's escapades through the Hollywood Hills; a time period Pop would later reflect upon being one of the worst times in his life due to addiction. This is a two thumbs up, ten out of ten, 5 star album. For real rock and roll fans it doesn’t get any better than this. Thank you Iggy!!Read full review
