I ordered the Spartan windshield and what National Cycle said was the proper mounting kit for my 1996 Harley Wide Glide. The windshield is of great quality. The problem is with the mounting kit.
With the mounting kit installed properly and the windshield installed, the wind shield brackets hit the gas tank before the fork hits the steering stops on both sides. This puts large gouges in the paint on the gas tank.
The design is very poor for the price paid for it. You can either not use the full turning sweep of the forks or live with a ruined gas tank.
For the $350 paid for the windshield and mount kit paint damage should not be part of the equation. One star rating at best.
Whilst the screen is of a good quality, at no stage in the listing did it state a fitting kit would be needed also! The fitting kit was nearly as much as the screen and I had to do a lot of research to find out I needed one!! Disappointing! You need to add to the description that a fitting kit is needed and add a link to purchase it.
The product looks nice. It looks real good in the work bench. For the total cost I could have went and bought a Harley Davidson windshield that came with mounting hardware. The company that sells these need to add in the items description that you also need to purchase a mounting kit at the same time. Which cost an additional 150.00.
Hell Harley Davidson mounting kits only cost $75
