I upgraded my older, slower Intel i5 LGA-1156 CPU by this faster i7, at relatively little cost. CPU speed increased by about 30% which made a clearly visible difference in computer performance - everything improved including, surprisingly, hard disk performance, I'm guessing due mainly to the better multi-tasking architecture of the i7 over the i5! Removal/replacement of the old CPU was easy, as was the installation of the replacement CPU fan for the i7. Note that the improvement in performance is NOT comparable to upgrading the motherboard, CPU and memory to a newer faster Intel architecture, but, of course, the cost of this CPU upgrade is radically lower, and is excellent value if you are simply after a moderate boost in performance.
