I picked up the i7-3770 cpu with 16GB of ram and used it to upgrade an 1155 socket motherboard that had an i5 cpu in it with 16GB ram. Now I've got 32GB ram (the board has four slots) and the i7. The best thing about this purchase is the cost. I bought the whole kit (i7 and ram) for around the price of the cpu by itself which means I got a 16GB ram upgrade for free! The purchase went smoothly, I got a tracking number, the item was package well in a non-static bag and lots of bubble wrap. I saved a lot of money by buying used parts. In the past I've spent thousands of dollars buying new only to see the value reduce to zero over time; buying computer components has been an expensive hobby. The i5 I upgraded from was an upgrade from a core2 quad. The i5 was also a used cpu from Ebay, and since then I've sold the i5 for about 70% of what I'd paid for it twelve months earlier. If anyone is looking for a cheaper way to keep their computer relative fast, do your homework, work out what parts you need, and take a look on Ebay. Good hunting! Read full review

This is an excellent socket 1155 CPU and awesome value for money. Upgraded the work PC from i3 2120 to this CPU for multitasking reasons and this computer screams. With 4 cores / 8 threads the PC is now mainly on holiday mode! I reckon this setup with an AMD RX 580 or Nvidia GTX 1060 would smash the latest game titles without any issues.

Not any faster really than the 2600k it replaced, but made the motherboard PCIE3 available which let me upgrade the graphics card.

It might be a little old these days (2017) but the 3770 still holds it's own when paired with a modern graphics card, put it with a GTX 1060 or such and you'll be burning along at Full-HD for nearly any game maxed out :)
