Helle has been making knives since the 1930s. For people who use and depend on knives, and who appreciate beauty in their tools. You can readily buy a similar knife for much less, but then you get much less for your money. You get something stamped out in a cheap labor economy embodied in a currently popular design that will be out of fashion in a couple of years. You get synthetic handles, good but rather ordinary steel and a fits-all sheath of cheap leather, synthetic fibers or plastic. With a Helle you get a tough, layered and extremely sharp blade, thick enough to withstand heavy use and ground to be reasonably sharpened when needed. You get beautiful wood handles, hand shaped and unique to each knife. You get a real leather sheath made for that knife by an actual person. With a Helle, you actually get what you pay for.

Great knives!
Vikings have been making knives for centuries. They are really good at it, and I believe the Norwegians are the best. I own four Helle's and they are all outstanding. Sharp out of the box and holds an edge for a long time. I can't recommend them enough. Try one and you will be hooked.
