The first camera sent broke when I hooked up the HDMI cable. The company was nice to work with. I sent it back and they sent me another one, no questions asked. And in a descent time. I wouldn't call the camera refurbished. I would say used. The first one was a little scratched up around the led screen. The second one, the lense is scratched up a bit. For the most part the picture is good but in some light you can see the scratches. But for the price I guess it's to be expected. But I did knock off a star for the scratches on the lense.

Camera is a battery hog. Unless you keep it turned off & turn on only when needed will you get maybe? 1 hr of recording time. Get a remote to control those operations. A total hassle trying to use buttons while in the case. Manual not very well written or clear on best way to set up things. How I had to config mine........... Set wi-fi to Remote mode, save that setting Test with camera OFF AND Remote OFF Turn on Remote (limited range so keep remote within 2-3-4 ft of camera. It may take several seconds to detect camera. Camera will turn on when it does. Verify by same screen as on camera. Hitting RECORD Button (Red Circle) on Remote will start camera recording Hitting RECORD Button again will stop recording. After many hours of playing around with this have I been able to get video with several Gigs of data. You won't really need much more than a 32G SD card cause battery will run down before you could ever fill card.Read full review

Takes amazing quality video. Don't be fooled by people saying you need the newest and greatest. We bought this in May of 2016 and it works like a brand new one. Beautiful video quality. The only Con I have is that the battery does not last long, so invest in some good aftermarket batteries. We have 3 always ready to go for a long day of shooting and have never run out of juice.

I have used my GoPro Hero2 camera for a couple of years now with outstanding results. I wanted another one and decided to upgrade to the GoPro 3+ Black edition. I am impressed with the size and included WiFi, but that's about all. The sound pickup in the waterproof case is non existent beyond a few feet, and there is no jack for an external microphone. If you want one, you have to buy a $20 adapter for the mini USB port, right after you buy the $50 skeleton housing. All of the higher resolution settings are not needed for amateurs, and probably not more than a few professionals. The ProTune mode is great for later editing, but the phone app cannot replay any video recorded in ProTune mode. The low light compensation is not as good as the Hero2, and if there is any stabilization, it's not apparent. The micro SD card required is another way of costing well over the selling price of the camera, and the size of the micro card makes dropping it and losing it a very real possibility. Why not keep the size of the card standard so we could use our old cards? I would recommend purchasing a large capacity card and never removing it from the camera. Just download your videos and photos directly. In my opinion, the price of the camera is not worth it unless it's your first camera. Just be careful of all the options you will have to buy. For the price they are asking, it's not worth an upgrade since most of us probably already have the WiFi module already added to our Hero2. The Hero2 WiFi has it's own battery, too, while the 3+ has to be run off of the camera battery. My recommendation is to stay away from the WiFi, the remote, and the APP. Use the White model manually, and you will love the quality of the videos, but if I want good still photos I'll use my digital camera with a great zoom for closeups.Read full review
For the price, this is a very solid purchase, new or used. The key with GoPro is it is nigh on indestructible so even if it's used, it won't seem like it. The GoPro is a small powerhouse putting out great video, pictures, you name it. Even at the 3+ (yes, I know the 7 exists now) the quality is impressive for most people. It may lack some of the glitzy features of the newer counterparts but it is slightly smaller and much cheaper by now. There are a few key features to think of though before purchasing one. The battery life is quite low but that comes with the territory of the size and image quality. Most times, you'll get roughly 2 or so hours of time while it is powered on. Obviously lowering quality capture or turning off features will extend this while increasing the load on the camera will decrease this. The positive? It can be charged by USB to a wall plug (needs adapter) or to a PC or laptop so you can charge on the go (granted most cars have USB plugs now too but I cannot confirm it charges in those that link to a music "channel" in your car). One other slight downside is that the camera requires some form of case or enclosure to mount to anything. The camera itself is smooth on all sides so you have to enclose it in the waterproof case or a different case with mounting gear attached. if you get the accessories bag, you will get a case that the camera goes in to mount with. This case is a bit large but it is 100% waterproof. The only issue with the case is when you first put the camera in it is likely to push the buttons on the camera. This only happens when you first close it and is easily fixed. The accessories bag is a huge bonus and makes it so you can Macgyver the camera to work just about anywhere doing anything. Pros: + Very small + Fantastic video quality + Extremely durable + Easy to charge + Able to be used just about anywhere + GoPro Mobile App + Low Cost (With 4+ versions ahead of this) Cons: - Low battery life - Needs SD card - Bulky caseRead full review

This version of the GoPro camera is my favorite. The image quality is better than its predecessors, at a more affordable price. With the back pack option (monitor display), you have the option of making it a bit more bulky with more ease of operation, or keeping is slim and using it with your phone app (or shooting old school by only using the onscreen info). It has many more features for controlling the image quality as well, as compared it its earlier counterparts. I have no experience with the 4 or 5 models, so I cannot comment how it compares to those.

This is my first GoPro purchase, I decided to take the plunge and see what all the fuss was abou.. The tiny little featherweight powerhouse is amazin,, I've created some great videos with it so far, haven't really tried out the camera only option. The one bad thing I'll say about them is the battery life is terrible, but I can live with that, several spare batteries makes up for this..

Camera is easy to use if you can figure out how to get it out of the box. There are dozens of youtube videos on how to unpack it you may want to look it up. Once out of the box and you get familiar with the lighting and settings you have a camera that looks like a kid's toy and can take all kinds of abuse. I bought mine for the underwater features. I'll be taking up scuba diving soon. If you want a camera to take pics of people just standing there you can buy a cheaper camera if you want action shots with a lot of movement this is the way to go. The downside is it can be a real money sink with all the attachments, extra batteries and memory cards. I knew that before buying. You can't cheap out on the memory card buy a good one recommended my go pro or you picture quality will suffer.
I love the versatility of the camera and video. Pro quality video in the palm of your hand. The settings menu is a little tough to see if your eyesight isn't perfect, but using the iPhone app takes care of that for me. The app is a great way to preview shots if you don't choose to purchase the backpack viewfinder. Battery power drops rapidly with wifi turned on, I bought a charger with a couple of spares. If you are going to use underwater, get some mid-priced filters to get better color. Also, get the anti-fog inserts, but BEWARE: ensure that you get them pushed all the way in and they do not interfere with the waterproof seal or else you will lose your camera to water damage (sounds like I know what I'm talking about, huh?) All in all, I think this is a fantastic product and buying refurbished allowed me to buy a much better camera for my budget.Read full review

I was not sure if I was going to be surprise because we bought the hero 3 when the 4 plus was just been released. Guys, don't believe all the time you NEED the latest version of something. This camera is just awesome! It's full HD, came with many toys. It was a perfect deal. Love it
