Apple's Mac Pro (Late 2013) is a solid Apple Computer. Its design, is incredible how it all fits in one cylinder. Regardless what YouTuber Luke Miani says, I like this unit. It was the right price. It still can compete with some of the current Mac Pros and the modular design of the hardware makes for an easy after-market project if you wish to upgrade the RAM, Video Card, harddrive and Processor. Although Luke's review of this product does have some highlights and things to consider before buying. Once you upgrade the processor and RAM especially, you will find this unit is incredible. Operating at 12-cores for me, this unit can keep up with my music production using Logic Pro especially. I am still running it through its paces but so far I have not been disappointed. You will find that the canister design (or more affectionately called "trash can"), will save on desktop space as well as provide a dependable and powerful machine. Kudos to Apple for this design and thank goodness it has come down in price since its release on the market back in 2013.Read full review

I just got the basic late 2013 Mac Pro as I wanted to run Big Sur. I maxed the ram to 64gb, and though it’s understood that you can somewhat easily change out the processor, I will probably stick with my standard 3.7 Xeon quad core as I’m sure it’ll outperform the Mac mini late 2012 2.3ghz quad i7 that I used to have. Even though it’s a discontinued black cylinder “trash can” style, there’s been criticism where this was a design flaw I guess, even internally. I think it’s innovative especially with the big fan on top and having air vented up from the base. However, after a few days, here and there when streaming (and that’s after updating to the most current OS) this will crash at times. Nothing responsive, just have to hold the power down button. When I executed the power on self test, it all passed. Sometimes it’ll crash or be frozen the next day if you leave it on overnight. Anyhow, I mean I bought this used and supposedly refurbished. But it was dusty; unsure if that had anything to do with it. Nothing really happened with basic usage like browsing online and so forth. Just watching movies like Netflix off different browsers regardless if it’s chrome, safari or Firefox… it will crash once in a while. I have read the base config with the base graphic cards aren’t the ones with problems but in the midrange and higher configured graphics card. Well apparently I think IMHO it’s just this whole 2013 generation Mac Pro. It is possible, that it just won’t work will with the OSs that came out in 2020 and currently 2022, even though this mac is listed as being compatible. I’d say maybe it’ll run more flawlessly with an older os, especially from 2013-15. Just my two cents. Anyways I horribly sold this on offerup and only made a trade of a Samsung 2021 smartphone with 256gb option. It was either that or 450 cash. Not much of a value plus I’m avoiding selling on eBay and dealing with fees after fees. eBay wasn’t as it used to back in the 2000sRead full review

If you're on the fence about buying one of these, do yourself a favor and go for it. It simply runs all my software incredibly fast and has been extremely stable running OSX Yosemite. It boots up/restarts faster than my previous machine woke up from sleep mode. The only thing slowing down the installation of my software was how quickly I could hit the next/I agree/OK buttons with my mouse. As a professional audio engineer, I know this computer will pay for itself in how much it accelerates my ability to be productive and how I can now totally focus on projects creatively without any worries if running out of computer resources, as I push my software harder than I could ever have imagined on my previous computer. And I haven't even upgraded the RAM yet! Count me as a happy camper with this 6-core Mac Pro.Read full review

Made in USA! I never thought I would own a computer that was made in USA. I have been a Mac user for 30 years. In the beginning I was always a Mac pro user. As pricing went up I switched to the iMac. I have loved my iMacs for 15 years. My last iMac was a tricked out 2011. It was time for a new one... I don't like big screens... when I put together a 21.5 inch iMac to the specs I needed it was a $2000 purchase. I decided to look around more... I have to use a Mac as that is what I know. I don't like hackintosh due to the work involved staying up to date. I ended up finding the entry level 2013 Mac pro new and sealed for the same money. I ordered a HD 21" monitor to add to the other hd monitor I already owned as I like 2 monitors. The iMac would have a much better screen but that doesn't matter to me at this time. The added performance of the Mac pro was much more important for me. All I can say is I am thrilled with the performance. The video cards are amazing for gpu intensive apps. Zooming in on stuff in illustrator is amazing. The difference between this and my old iMac is huge. That is the first time I ever experienced such a performance boost from a single upgrade. It is dead silent and runs much cooler than my old machine. I still can't believe it only has one fan to cool it. The engineering that went into this machine is amazing. So powerful yet so small... My late 2013 Mac Pro 3.7 GHz Quad-Core D300 with 16GB ram and 256 GB storage scored above posted Geekbench 5 results. Scored 866 vs 813 on single core and 3487 vs 3246 on multi-core. I attribute this to dissection and thorough cleaning as there were hidden dust bunnies everywhere when I got it.

An off brand cheap wireless keyboard and mouse was shipped with the computer. I would have rather it been Apple brand or nothing at all for a slightly lower price. Otherwise everything else has been good so far.
