Restores shine.
This compound really makes aluminum shine. But it works best to maintain the shine on a piece after it has been restored and buffed out and all the pitting and discoloration has been removed with the coarser cutting compounds first and you have buffed out all the imperfections. You can buff all day with the white and it won't remove the pits and stains. But once you do get your piece prepared with the coarser compounds this white bar will maintain the shine with little effort.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

NOT good for polishing silver!
This product is very abrasive. It is definitely NOT good for polishing sterling silver; or any other finished fine metal surface I can think of. It is probably too abrasive for Final polishing on many gemstones. On the other hand the price is decent, and it's probably OK for coarser initial polishes on many stones..
