About this product

Product Information

Part memoir, part master class by one of the bestselling authors of all time, this superb volume is a revealing and practical view of the writer's craft, comprising the basic tools of the trade every writer must have. King's advice is grounded in the vivid memories from childhood through his emergence as a writer, from his struggling early career to his widely reported, near-fatal accident in 1999 - and how the inextricable link between writing and living spurred his recovery. There is a reason why Stephen King is one of the bestselling writers in the world, ever. Described in the Guardian as 'the most remarkable storyteller in modern American literature', Stephen King writes books that draw you in and are impossible to put down.

  • Stephen King as you probably do not know him

I have recently begun writing short stories and this book was recommended to me as a learning resource. The book arrived very quickly indeed and was well packaged and unfortunately was left on my front doormat so I couldn't even get out of the door without pushing it out of the way in order to not stand on it. But that aside I'm already halfway through the book and it is excellent reading. In the first one third Stephen King gives a kind of potted autobiography of his progress as a writer and then he begins to discuss the art of writing and the craft of developing plot and character and all of the other details that make up a good story I recommend it to anyone who wishes to write or anyone who enjoys to read.
