This remote is really a great design. Very simple to use and program but still has the flexibility to do any more advanced programming that you need if you require additional flexibility beyond what the basic programming gets you which works over 99% of the time. I wish Logitech still made remotes like this, they seem to have moved away from this methodology which is a shame.

I don't know why I thought it would be different. It works exactly as all the other Harmony remotes. It can't reliably change inputs on an Oppo BDP-105, same on the Panasonic plasma. Only toggles(not separate on-off) the power on the Spectrum cable box, simply does not believe Roku exists. Seems okay with the Arcam AVR400. Very time consuming trying the get the sequences of commands and delays to sort of work for the various equipment and input combinations needed for activities. And even after fine tuning for days, trying different sequences and delays, it's extremely rare you don't have to use the help function to get it to set everything to the correct input and power state. Perhaps simpler setups with more mainstream gear might work better? But really, I only have a TV, AVR, Blu-ray, cable box and Roku. Really not worth the effort for me, totally not a timesaver.Read full review

I have purchased several universal remotes over the years looking for a device that would handle all of the audio/video equipment in my entertainment system. The problem with all of them was that you had to memorize which button did what when switching between different pieces of equipment. The beauty of the Harmony 1100 is that once you master programing it, using it is simple. If you want to watch TV, press watch TV. If you get tired of TV and want to listen to FM Radio, press "Activities" and then press "Listen To Radio." It turns off the TV, turns on the Receiver and sets it to FM. If you decide to then watch a DVD, press "Activities" again, then press Watch DVD. The remote will turn the TV back on, switch your TV to the DVD input, turn on your DVD Player and switch your receiver to the DVD input. The touch screen controls will then operate your DVD Player while the hard buttons will work the volume on your Receiver. When you've had enough entertainment you just press the off button and everything currently on will be turned off. Whichever activity you choose, the Harmony 1100 displays the controls you need to engage in that activity. You can custom program almost all of the hard and soft (touch screen) buttons. When setting up the remote you program the sequence of which device turns on first and what input (if necessary) that device is switched to. On shut off you can program a mute command to be issued prior to the power off command to avoid speaker "thump" that sometimes occurs if you just switch a component off. I bought one for my mother (who is 78 and not technically inclined) so she wouldn't have to call me from across the country to talk her through playing a DVD and then switching back to watching TV when she was done. Now she just presses the appropriate button and, like magic, the devices do what she needs them to do. I love this remote and dread the day mine dies and I can't find a replacement at any price.Read full review

As a highly satisfied customer of an originally purchased Harmony 1100 six years ago, it was a no-brainer to puchase another unit to control two new wide-screen HD TVs in different rooms. The tech staff at Logitech were extremely helpful in customizing the "new" Harmony 1100 to control the two new TVs we have. There is an instruction manual and a CD to help the tech-saavy person do-it-yourself. I opted to have knowledgeable staff do the work. It did cost $10.00 (plus tax) for their professional expertise, but for someone getting close to 70 years, it sure did beat hitting my head against the wall, trying to figure out the intricacies offered with this unit. The unit itself offers a touch-screen for choosing your input, with a keypad for entering your desired channel or using an up-down button for reaching your channel, also, an up-down volume control, mute button and previous channel button. There are a LOT more functions that can be incorporated into this unit. I was told that the unit can control 13 different devices. There is also a battery charge dock where you place the unit when it is not being used. This unit is no longer being made by Logitect ('Tis truly a shame), but they are available on-line. I saw one on Amazon for $469, but I opted to purchase one on e-bay for just over $100. Logitech makes high quality products. This unit delivers what is needed without fifty buttons on a remote control!Read full review

I love this remote. It is easy to use and controls almost any system you have. I have had two of these in 20 years, and I would buy again. Unfortunately, someone at Logitech decided not to make them anymore. So, I have to buy used now, and hope they are in good shape. (this one was) Come on Logitech, not everyone keeps the cell phone by their sides 24 hours a day.
