Watching this film will restore your faith in humanity and enrich your life regardless of your religious beliefs. For those who do believe, you will be touched my this man, Dr. Moscati, a relatively new saint (1987) who is still not known to many. Praying to St. Dr. Moscati has helped me in my life. I have this film to thank for the blessings in my life through St. Dr. Moscati. Thank you.
"Based" on a true story,,, the film becomes "fiction- light"
True, Moscati is a saint, but the film is mostly fictional. One of the best actors was the street-
tough little boy (Aniello) whose performance was stunning--however, I doubt that he actually
existed. The love triangle never existed because Dr. Moscati was not in love with a princess
and in fact, was thought to be celibate all of his life, never intending to marry.
The final scene is intended to show that Moscati had undergone a transfiguration of sorts,
and that what he accomplishes made me think that it might be one of the miracles required for his consideration for sainthood. This is not on record as having occurred as far as I know, and oh yes, his "sister" whose acting is superb, was in reality, his mother.
Its entertainment value is excellent, but as biography, don't use it for a term paper.
A wonderful film for the family on a Sunday afternoon.
The amazing story of this doctor who lived his faith to the point of giving away all his families possessions to minister to the poor is heartwarming and inspirational. The ending leaves with a fantastic event towards his eventual sainthood.
