  • Smooth and deep

I replaced a set of light gauge Chromes with these mediums on my modified Standard Jazz bass. I already liked the lights but I love the medium gauge version. Solid, deep tone with not a lot of difference in playability. Just tightened the truss rod enough to bring the fingerboard almost flat with almost no relief. I can dig in and get that "Mwah" sound that's so cool on a fretless. I've used light Chromes on other basses - a fretless Breedlove acoustic, and a Japanese '62 reissue P-bass. They last a long, long time and the tone is really nice. Definitely recommend!

  • My go to Bass Strings

These strings have a nice warm sound and are very easy on the fingers. If you like a little snap to your tone, they will also do that with a little adjusting of your tone settings. I find that they are a little bright when new, but they do mellow out as you use them. Give them a try. You won't be sorry. hiram4tg

  • Great flat wound strings

Great value, sound great on my Precision bass. Feel great, very balanced tonally with nice high end for a flat wound string. Using a pick closer to the bridge, you can get the round wound vibe too. I like these better than the expensive Thomas-Stik flat wounds that I've been using. I like the medium gauge, wouldn't go many lighter but maybe heavier.

  • Good flatwounds

I had always played roundwound bass strings in the past. Decided to try some flatwounds on one of my basses that is more of a P bass type bass. They are really different from roundwounds in feel and sound, and I'm kind of liking them for certain types of music. I was surprised that flats cost more, but the price on the D'Addarios wasn't too bad so I bought them.

  • Great sound

Nice and smooth to the touch and to the ear. Perfect for old blues and rock music. Strings require a higher tension than the same size of round wounds that I had been using, this allowed a fairly big reduction in the string height. The initial twang of new strings went after a couple of weeks making them sound even better on my modern bass that has active pickups. Yet to see how long they will last, but would certainly consider buying them again.

  • D'Addario 50 - 105 Flat Wound LS Chromes Bass Guitar Strings

These medium weight strings are smooth and mellow, that produce the good old sound of a quality heavy gauge flat wound string, without actually being a heavy gauge string.

  • Great,wonderful,smooth

Last set served on my P for over a decade. Broke a string, purchased a new set, sounded great just like the old set. I would not put anything else on my P-Bass.

  • Chromes, my old stand by.

These strings have been my standby for several years. I recently tried the cobalt flats from Ernie b and did not like the feel, so I went back to the Chromes.

  • Sounds good but look horrible.

These strings sound good but have a horrible blue silk cover that makes any bass look uglier when you put them on. Worst part is nobody mentions it anywhere so it's kind of a surprise when you open the package. An awful surprise. If you only care about the sound they're ok, but if you care about aesthetics at least a little they totally suck.

  • All feel

Nice feel to these strings. Sound great like all DAddario strings. Lot value for what your paying. Meansa lot these days. And the history of the company....... Good stuff.
