I saw Landreth several times years ago when he guested on Eric Clapton's "Crossroads" concert videos and was impressed with his slide guitar technique, so when I revisited "Crossroads" recently I made a mental note to get some Sonny music in my life. I started with 2015's Bound by the Blues which floored me from the very first track "Walking Blues" and was followed by an amazing collection of originals and rock blues classics. I highly recommend this album. I needed more Sonny so next was 2009's "Levee Town expended edition", an all original collection with guest Bonnie Raitt and John Hiatt. Sonny original songs mix heavy blues, zydeco, boogie, big brass arrangements and acoustic blues. Guitar players don't come any better than Sonny Landreth. The bonus disc which is mainly instrumental except Jennifer Warnes guests on one track is worth the cost of the disc and you get an amazing disc thrown in. Sonny's slide playing is fantastic and I love his voice which gets better with every listening. My darling wife who swears aligence to the dynamic guitar duo of Clapton and Bonamassa has added Landreth. Writing this review reminds me to find more Sonny albums. Read full review
