I used this device to upgrade the capacity of the SSD in one of my Chromeboxes from 16 GB to 32 GB.
While I have upgraded other Chromeboxes from the standard capacity of 2 GB RAM and 16 GB SSD all the way to 8 GB RAM and 64 GB SSD, I found that 4 GB RAM and 32 GB SSD was just about right.
Chromebooks cannot have their RAM upgraded, but I have upgraded these to 128 GB or even 256 GB.
The reason for the upgrades has more to do with running true Linux along side Chrome Linux than with Chrome Linux itself, as Chrome Linux is almost completely "cloud" based, whereas true Linux depends more upon the local storage capacity.
