Excellent security product - and a great handrail too
The security handle is just that - two products in one: 1: Provides an easy-to-use handrail when entering or leaving the caravan when locked in the 'out' position - much better than low 'normal' handles as you can grab it in various places going in or out. It also folds back flat against the van (not over the door) out of the way when you don't want to use it. 2: When locked closed it covers both parts of a split door caravan providing excellent security - and any thief will probably ignore your van as it is quite clearly secured. It provides a backup in case the normal van lock fails (often not very secure). You can also secure it with the top-half of the door open for ventilation. When travelling with the van you can close it without locking, just as an additional way to make sure the doors don't blow open when travelling - and you can easily SEE that it is closed. It comes with a selection of various length screws - although you will probably need to carefully cut the longest screws to the correct length with a hacksaw. The photo instruction sheet is OK, but take extra care to check the actual measured distance between the two mounting plates, and put the supplied gaskets on the OUTSIDE of the van for weather protection. Fairly quick to install yourself if you take time and measure carefully. Use 7mm or 1/4" drill bit after drilling small pilot holes first. Check your location for the inside mount plates and all three positions of the handle outside before drilling.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Added security at a great price
Just installed the arm a lock on my caravan. An old 1988 Viscount. Easy to install and looks great. I love the fact that it can be moved thru 180 degrees. My wife and I don't need it as an aid to get into our van BUT the added SECURITY gives my wife peace of mind while we are away from the van. Will it keep a determined their out, probably not but not much will any way. An added bit of extra security that's well made and gives peace of mind. Also an added security in the event of your door just happens to try and open while travelling. Great product. Bob Nelson

Arm a lock
I installed the Arm-A-Lock on my 1992 SpacelineTraveller. * It was easy to fit, * the rubber gaskets were slightly deformed which made using them as a template difficult * for my application due to thicker walls and frame, the supplied hardware was useless * the mounting screws needed to be much longer * my local industrial suppliers were able to obtain the 45mm screws to suit from stock on hand It has proved to a strong support for entering and leaving the 'van, and a strong preventative against unauthorised entry when unattended.
