Like Demon's Souls, but if it had the violence of Painkiller.

This game is excellent - a true hidden gem in the Japanese PS2 library. The swordplay is a bit fiddly, but clearly intended to make you feel like you're really swinging a giant sword around, and it mostly works. Levels are long and a little padded, although it's hard to feel too upset when you're slicing zombies and trolls in half the entire way from A to B. (This would have been rated M had it gotten a US release - definitely not a game for kids!) Some other complaints I have include a dire shortage of save points in some levels, as well as a parry mechanic that feels a little bit too precise to rely on. But these are minor complaints, and considering how often I find myself grinning from ear to ear while playing this game, I can't say they've hurt my opinion of the game substantially. I can understand most of the Japanese in this game, but I think you wouldn't have too much difficulty playing this game without knowing Japanese - there are plenty of English-language guides that explain the controls and mechanics. Just remember that Circle is confirm and Cross is cancel in Japanese games - that's opposite what you might be used to!

    Berserk Millennium Falcon PS2 Review

The game adapts parts of the Black Swordsman Arc from the Berserk manga. That and the decent graphics is the only appeal to the game. The gameplay is non-stop action but after only a few minutes this becomes repetitive and boring. If you're a Berserk fan it's worth picking up but don't expect the gameplay to be as a good or deep as Devil May Cry or even God of War.
