Author Biography
A friend gave me an Olivetti typewriter, the old kind with ribbon and high keys, and I started writing short short stories. Years later I rewrote those stories. The same friend, who gave me the typewriter, later gave me a computer and I was able to acquire a printer and continued writing. Those stories are now published in A Collection of Short Stories by Create Space. In the span of years since I started writing I also published a short Novella called Pipelines in the Sand 2008 also published by Create Space. A Vow of Silence is my first novel. I enjoy taking my wife to school. She is Chinese and learning English which gives me time to write in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center at the school. It is a community college and having various locations to write keeps me writing. There are a lot of writings from A Vow of Silence from the school lobby, cafeteria and courtyard. I sent a previous manuscript to Dorrance publishing. The story was called There's Always Tomorrow. The majority of that manuscript is a rewrite of the now A Vow of Silence story. I thought it important to write what they had to say about the manuscript. It is as follows: There's Always Tomorrow blends elements of suspense, romance, and adventure in an account centering on several men's efforts to counteract a group seemingly bent on destruction. Through a portrayal emphasizing some of the darker facets of human nature, you explore the extent to which a person might be willing to go in pursuit of an ideal or of a more materialistic goal. As a backdrop the story employs a conception of the power dynamic that might underscore interaction between governments as alliances seem to shift in a global economy. Spanning a range of locales from Hong Kong to London, you imagine the high stakes presumably involved in maintaining what may be a precarious peace. It is designed to entertain as well as to provoke thought.
