Okay, let's be frank, this isn't Bailey, Shaffer & Shaw or Strunk & White so it is never going to be the only grammar book you will ever need but it is a good book to sit on the corner of the desk to double-check those niggling questions you may have while slamming out a paragraph. It does not say much about huge opening sentences, either. The book's layout is easy and section titles make it simple to find the topic you are having problems with. The final pages of common misspellings and alternative words for long-winded expressions are useful but a thesaurus will do the same job. So, this is not the only book of its type nor the best book of its type but it is a useful book of its type for late-grade/primary school students, harried business writers, and a more appealing alternative to spelling and grammar checkers built into word processors. If only Ebay would read it and learn the value of allowing paragraph breaks in reviews! I can give this book four stars and save five for Messrs Strunk & White. -Christopher Bayliss.Read full review
