Automatic rotating of food in a microwave

If you don't have a microwave with a built-in turntable, this is the only way to keep your food constantly turning around for even cooking. This device lasts about 20 years before the spring that makes the table turn wears out enough that the table won't turn any more. Cleaning is not a problem if you wipe up spills when they are made. You can't soak this device unless you turn in upside down in less than 1/2 inch of water.

Nice item, but expensive and easy to break.

This is a handy product if your microwave does not have a rotating table in it. It is somewhat clumsy to wind and you have to be careful not to break off the little plastic tabs around the sides that hold it together. If you do it's $50 down the drain. Sometimes what you put on it is not heavy enough to activate the mechanism so yo have to put a heavier plate on it to make it rotate. I have gone through 4 of them so far as the kids have broken the tabs off or over wound them. If you treat them delicately they will do just fine. I would suggest wiping them off carefully and not submersing them in water as the spring inside will rust.

  • Pretty much the only game in town - if you need it, get it.

Does what it is supposed to do. This is my third one of these. The wind-up drive mechanism has a rather fragile plastic part which can easily break There is no way to replace the part - so an entirely new unit is in order. I could not find a competitive unit on the market. The only reason to buy one is if you have an older microwave without it's own built in turntable, and even then if you are stuck with a built in wall oven (like me). At $40+, it is almost as expensive as buying a new counter-top microwave, all of which now have their own built-in turntables. I would have much preferred a unit with a manual on-off switch. Some items are too light to activate the weight based activation and it balks with off-center weight. Naturally, with weight, it continues to run until the cooked item is lifted or it simply runs down. Also, if the device gets really hot, it will continue to run, even if the weight is lifted.

  • When a good microwave goes bad.....

You know the motor 'thingie' that twirls your microwave turn-table? Well, the motors don't last forever and when the unit is built with your vent-hood and bolted to the wall above your stove, the cost of getting it repaired becomes about the same as buying a whole new unit.. Comes then the Micro-Go-Round to the rescue. Just wind it up, put it on top of the glass tray and VOILA! - you're back in business once again. SLOW turning and you gotta remember to wind it up again every few days but it works, and that's the bottom line. (PS...your food won't cook worth a hoot if it isn't turning in the microwave to heat evenly.)

  • Perfect for a microwave without a turntable

First of all, let me say that I have a microwave that will soon be 38 yrs. old and still works. Because of it's age it does not have a built in turntable. This is actually the third one of these that I have owned and would not have had to replace the second one if I had not dropped it and caused it to break. You can not find these in stores anymore so I was glad to have been able to purchase a new one on ebay. If you need one of these I would say you had better buy it now because I don't think they will be available much longer.

  • Nordic Plate for Microwave

Product is great. Price is a little HIGH. There was a "label" on the plate itself...you almost needed dynamite to remove it !....try an easy removal "label".

  • a good find

Good news. It's like brand new. The bad news is I'm using it in my vintage 1984 RadarRange.

  • Second Time Around

We have a 25+ year old microwave which is built into our kitchen. Without a microwave turntable of some sort we get hot and cold spots when we use it. The Nordic Ware turntables have solved the problems of differential heating. They have been dependable (average life: six-plus years) and are cleverly designed.

  • Modernize your old microwave oven with a wind-up rotating base platten.

I asked myself why I've put up with a wonderful old 1987 Montgomery Ward microwave oven, that never had a rotating platten for all of these years...thinking that the old oven would conk out at any time...for the last 37 years...yet I can now enjoy it even more for the rest of my life...

  • Stops & Slow

It is sturdy made, however it takes a certain weight to make it work. To much and it won't go to little and it won't go. When it does go it is as slow as molasses, it takes over 2 minutes to go completely around. I had one years ago and the quality of function was much better.
