720p, needs a good amount of light, No connecting cable.
This was a decent camera. It is 720p and it needs a good amount of light to make it clear without heavy grain. If you are replacing your existing camera in your laptop, the installation should be simple plugging it in.
I was building a cheap webcam by soldering on a USB cable like I saw on YouTube to learn basic electronics. I did not realize, and it is my fault, that it does not come with the connecting cable. I searched for a cable with the supplier and they did not have it or was able to tell me a part number. Other sources had the cable at $8-$14, which moves the build into the price of a cheap webcam.
This board is TINY and the six pin (two are audio) male plug on the board is not standard (that I could find). I was lucky that the back of this one (not all of them have it) has six very tiny dots that allowed me to solder to them after several long tries and restarts. It was a fun and difficult project that would have been made far easier had I the connecting cable, even if it had 28 gage wires.
