    It's all authentic stuff. Replace them both at the same time, don't wait until another fails.

    Both the Wahler (Borg-warner) thermostat and the VDO (Continental) pump I received from this seller are OEMs. They are exact replacements of the original units, and they fit perfectly into the tight space of the 2011 335i xDrive. Word of advice: in case of the xDrive you may need to take off the front passenger wheel to allow access from the side as well. The aluminum bolts to hold the pump have been replaced with anodized steel bolts around 2010 model year, and steel is generally stronger than aluminum, so probably keeping the original steel bolts makes sense. It is universally recommended to replace the water pump when the thermostat is replaced, and vice versa. It will be hard to do the same work twice, if one of them is left old and fails down the road. Get the hose that connects them also, it's just a few bucks more, but it makes sense to replace it at the same time. Reusing the old hose clamps is ok, as they are made of stainless steel.
