  • 2001 Montero Brake Accumulator

This item fit perfectly and resolved the problem my daughter was having in her Montero. A weird, intermittent squeaking noise accompanied by ABS light coming on and going off. After a quick Google search, was found to be a common problem and recommended a DIY fix rather then going to a stealership for the repair. Instructions couldn't be simpler: with key off, pump brake pedal 40 times or until hard. Remove accumulator (I believe either a 13/16 SAE or, a 22 MM socket). Install new accumulator. I torqued mine to 45 ft/lbs. Start car and pump brakes till you have a normal pedal. Done...couldn't be simpler!

  • Super-expensive repairs prevented with this simple part

When my 2001 Montero began making electronic growling noises and flashing the ABS light, friends warned me that they had spent thousands of dollars repairing the braking system. A few others, however, told me about the simple fix of merely replacing the ABS accumulator. It's an inexpensive part that replaces a part that originally had a known problem. It was subject to a recall, but my Montero is well outside the 10 year window in which Mitsubishi offered the replacement. No worries. Grab a 21 mm socket wrench, unscrew the old one and screw on the replacement. There are some specific instructions to follow detailing how to pump the brake pedal to depressurize & repressurize the thing, but the whole procedure is very simple and takes 10 minutes. You can do it in your driveway with your good clothes on!

  • Car working great now !

I love this product! I thought I was going to have to spend thousands of dollars. Some of the most experienced mechanics had said that I needed to go to the dealer. But I got a second opinion and installed this and my car isn't making any noise anymore!

  • Great part!

This part really did the job for the noise coming from the brake accumulated. Sounded like a chicken was in my engine.
