Gamers engage in brutal combat against hordes of twisted monsters and explore the ancient gothic city of Yharnam in Bloodborne. From the developer of the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne offers the same sort of foreboding atmosphere, hellish monsters, and distinct multiplayer experience, but with faster-paced action. Other features that separate Bloodborne from its Souls ancestry include the Regain system, which lets players regain HP if they counter-attack shortly after taking damage, and the procedurally generated Chalice Dungeons, which can be played alone or with friends.<br><br>The action begins with gamers creating a character, receiving a blood transfusion, and then witnessing a grisly cut-scene, only to wake up in a doctor's office with amnesia and no weapons. After their inevitable first death, players arrive in the Hunter's Dream home base, where they can level-up their character, purchase new items, armor, and weapons, and transport to other areas of Yharnam. As gamers collect treasure, defeat foes, and explore the twisted, Victorian world they will earn blood echoes, Bloodborne's currency. In a similar mechanic to the Dark Souls series, players lose all of their blood echoes if they die, but they have a chance to regain them if they return to the spot of their demise. However, another beast may have scooped up the blood echoes, so gamers must be prepared to fight for their hard-earned currency.<br><br>Other features in Bloodborne will also seem familiar to veterans of the Souls series, such as the lamps that serve as checkpoints and links between Yharnam and Hunter's Dream, and asynchronous multiplayer that lets gamers leave hints, warnings, or cryptic messages, and graves that mark the spot of demise of other players. Amazing game at a great price.
Bloodborne is another amazing game from Miyazaki aka the guy that created Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls 1-3, Sekiro, Armored Core, Tenchu and a few more games. Bloodborne is personally my favorite out of them all and one of my favorite games in general. Quick combat, a small variety of weapons that can turn into another weapon with their own moves and even when swinging and switching mid combo, it does another move as it turns into the other weapon, the boss fights are plentiful and challenging, it’s a great game. If you like piecing together lore from items descriptions, Boss dialogue and inferring what happened with both the info you collect and how the world around you looks just like the souls games, you will definitely enjoy this and even if you don’t, the whole Lovecraftian theme is there as well. It's a game
It has a difficulty factory that requires the player to invest time into playing if you plan on beating it. Not for the casual gamer. Also, it technically is an RPG, but it leans more towards action/adventure in my opinion. Basically if you took out the freedom to control how your abilities are enhanced upon leveling up your character it wouldn't qualify as an RPG, and since that's the only qualifier for making it an RPG, besides the so far bland storyline of waking up in a place called yarnham looking for something called pale blood. The very nature of the game leveling up system makes leveling up a risky business. If you die you lose your experience, or blood echoes, and since enemies everywhere are challenging in their own ways dying is imminent, and so Is losing your precious blood echoes which means you will not level up, which creates a stressful environment for the player and adding the gothic play environment and demon possessed enemies creates a sense of helplessness that is not for the faint of heart.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Challenging yet engaging hours of fun
A game of mystery and horror with a Cthulhian touch, Bloodborne is a game that will definitely test your medal, patience and attention to detail all while providing lots of hours of game play and fun. Here are some pros and cons I noticed about this game: Pros: Graphics and game play are OUTSTANDING! Interactive environment online in both single and co-op gaming (after finding the right items to unlock co-op play that is!). Allowing to see what others have done or are currently doing (to an extent in the form of apparitions) and leaving helpful notes is very helpful in making the game great. Online guide that helps to better explain the world, stats and weapons along with possible builds and recommendations is very helpful. Challenging and engaging environment and AI of enemies. Though scenarios may seem the same they aren't always alike hence they can easily have a different feel every time. When playing the game you will understand what that statement means. High replay value which cannot be said for every game played. Cons: No real explanation of how stats work when creating a character. The Manual that comes within the game gives limited info on game play and no explanation on character creation, and the brief explanation given while creating a character gives little helpful information. Each individual stat has a purpose that is not explained without going online. It would have been best to at least give the basics on the disc and for elaborate information go to the website. There is no gauge on level of difficulty; only the option to play online or offline. The game is simply hard and gets harder though from what I understand prior to a recent patch the game was EXTREMELY difficult, more so than now which can be hard to believe. Though I do not personally see this point as a con, for some this may lead to frustration and putting the game down. This is dependent on you but make no mistake this game will kick your ass many times over. Personally, I enjoy this game tremendously and am still playing thorough it. Creepy, spooky and sick. Just the way I like it
Heard about it for years but got into the Dark Souls series and passed. Finally got bored and ordered it, not expecting too much because it's a few years old. I was pleasantly surprised. Looks great, plays smooth, good story and audio. Theres only a few games I really like and this is one of them. They managed to create a hell-like atmosphire w/o being cartoonish or gratuitous blood and gore. If you like Dark Souls, you'll like this game. An Unexpected Favorite
Bloodborne is a unique experience starting out, because it teaches you that you can’t just run and hack and slash everything like other games because you will run out of health very quickly. It requires a lot of skill and patience and precision to master. After each time you die it makes you want to come back for more and try to correct what you did before to move on. Good Game, FromSoft Controls
FromSoftware really knows how to make a good story. They don't know how to make a good control scheme, though. It's really crappy when you die because the lockon camera keeps locking on to enemies on the other side of the area that isn't attacking instead of the one killing you. Oh, and whoever though up that way of jumping should be kicked in the nuts. Graphics are so-so. Only reason I bought a Ps4

Very hard, very awesome
Very tough game, but very rewarding when you make it to goals within the game. Player is forced to be patient, but aggressive in combat in order to succeed. Graphics are excellent, fps remains a constant 60 fps as far as I have played. Don't give up if you get discouraged early on and die many times! Bloodborne is an unforgiving challenging game that will test your patience and commitment to a video game. There is no hand holding no pausing no continues just a game over screen and a respawn of all previous enemies that were in your way.
