So looking around for a cpu as was building my first build and my friend recommend intel so i looked around and this catches my eye so after doing some reseach and watching reviews i decided to buy. So when i built my pc i just laughed at the stock heatsink to be honest i have no idea why they sell them little usless things with cpus, i hooked up my corsair h100i luied cooler and powered the pc up This is where you see its power, very fast at processing everything, windows runs like a beast and games are great to with the built in graphics but to be honest i brought a nvidia 980 gtx so i really didnt need the graphics part. after a few weeks ive monitored the cpu and with the cooler and my corsair 540 high airflow case i get idle temps of 17c to 24c and the highest i seen it after intense gaming it was at 37c to 42c so really good temps. now i dont really understand the full oc thing but this cpu is made to be overclocked, and im running at 4.4ghz and its been stable with no blue screens, you can get more out of it but i really dont understand much so i dont want to be damageing it as this is my first full build. so after seeing some review videos ive seen it up to 4.7ghz even 5ghz bug i class these people as pros. There is nothing i dislike well maybe that rubbish fan heat sink you get, and needing more skill to understand to get higher speeds but apart from this its a worthy buy. my last cpu waa a AMD Black Ed 4.2ghz and it as nothing over this cpu, and i had very high temps with that so i would always pick intel from now on.Read full review
Very fast processor still number one despite new kids on the block.I bought it because its still the best
To be truthful I upgraded from the i5 4670k There is hardly any difference in speed. As the i5 was fast and perfect for a gaming machine. Where the i5 is fast, the i7 4790k is rapid. On the benchtest Ive done I have been getting 10% higher scores If you want a fast machine get the i5 4670k. and spend the saved money on better graphics If your flush with cash and want a beast of a pc. Get the i7 4790k it wont let you down. I have GTX970 with i7 runing 3d gaming in 4k 40+fps
What's to say? This is a pinnacle of human achievement and engineering in an impossibly tiny square that will doubtless end up processing pictures of kittens from the internet.
This has been the best purchase yet, both fast and very powerful with great heating temps, even playing the witcher 3 on full graphics, this cpu didn't go above the temps of 50 with a simple cheap aftermarket cooling fan. This cpu is well worth the investment.
The 4790K still holds its own against the newer Skylake CPUs with higher base clocks and can be found for a decent price. However, keep in mind that you will be limited to DDR3 even if there isn't currently noticeable difference to DDR4, and that the choice of motherboards, especially in the mini ITX form factor, is getting rather limited as most of the boards are going out of market.
