This lens performs exactly as I would expect a Zeiss lens to. Attached to a Sony a7r iii, the images are sharp, the auto focus performs well and the size is great. Just love it. My favourite lens and camera combination I have ever owned, and I've used a lot of cameras over the years, including medium format.

I purchased this lens for my M3 and have not gotten the images back yet but at the same time, I haven’t heard anyone really complain about the sharpness of this lens. It’s way cheaper than a Leica lens and I’d say performs just as good. It’s made of metal, feels sturdy, and everything clicks nicely. There are a few things that might bother someone like the fact that the aperture stops are in thirds, to focus there is a little nub which is a little weird to use, and it does not come with a lens hood. It has to be bought separately. Even with all that said, I still feel like this is a great first/beginner 50mm M-mount lens especially for the price.

I had a Voightlander 28mm f2 Ultron, which was fine and did a good job but had a bit of chromatic aberrations on the outside 25% of images which made bokeh/light look real bad. This 50mm has been great. very sharp wide open and the colors and quality of the images from it are what I wanted.

I've only used it a few times but the shots are spot on and great clarity. So far nothing to point to as a downside. Based on limited use it is a great lens for the money. If a Leica lens is out of reach, just reach for this.

Been about two weeks using the lens and I must say, the lens is super sharp and the build quality for the glass is what I would come to expect from a Zeiss lens. Amazing stuff!!!
